kato (37642km): A play at Invy with Matt and Peter. A great day which just got better and better as the tide came in. Spent the last 1/2 hr of sailing with Roy which lasted 2hrs. We couldnt stop cos it was just too much fun, flat smooth water and great jybing one end . Flat water into rolling chop and jumps at the other. Im stuffed now, no more wind please Who says buying gear = no wind Sl 53,Koncept 6.6, Venom 30
Chinaman (2860km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU have to wave the white flag today, all fours in the air!!!!!!! Usuall shit that we have been coppining in 2014 Ahhh well could think of worse places and things to do
Peter Johnston (8869km): Inverloch, VIC, AU After the wild winds yesterday this was a cruisy fun day with a few of the Invy crew, Kato and Matt (from Aubury) enjoying the very flat water behind a long sand bar at Invy. The wind looked a bit light while rigging so put up my 6.6 Koncept but overpowered after a couple or runs when the wind firmed up. Back in and rigged a 5m Koncept which was perfect! Many thanks to Craig and Jen for putting me up Saturday night, for the hot showers and hot vege curry and great to meet you Matt! CA SL 53 with C3 Viper 30cm and KA Koncept 5m and briefly 6.6m.
Sailquik (29582km): Second day of SHQ Cup weekend. Freestyle in the morning (no I didn't enter ) and slalom racing in the arvo. I was in the Grand masters division with blokes 15 years younger. I won every race! Then they had an all in race where the wind dropped out on the start line and a few of us didn't get planning. Then it shifted west and we couldn't make the finish line bouy. DSQ! Then they had a race downwind to the red buoy at the end of the speed strip. I didn't even get planing at all and gave up! Great fun though when the wind was up! Alphas done when checking the course before the racing. NM had 3 Gybes and was during one of the races I think! I had almost forgotten how much fun it is tipping into the first gybe at 34 knots with 3 or 4 other guys all around you! Wheehoo! After yeaterdays epic for my unfit body I was lucky to last it through the races. A few more days of this and I will be well fit again! Just need more wind! Spotty did well in the young blokes races! Martin crashed heavily right inside me as we tipped into the first gybe of one race after his foot got stuck in the strap and he couldn't pull it out to turn! Yikes, that was close! . Big thanks to the SHQ crew for putting it on in a fun spirit! It was all great fun! IS87, Venom 34, 2015 KA Koncept 5.8m (very sweet!) Had a seniors moment when I was packing up and forgot to get my 6.2 which was up the beach where i had left it all day without needing it. Spotty, the gentleman that he is, packed it up and brought it home for me. It was only then that I realised! At least it had my name on it!
