Nice morning sail with Sailpilot.... remember him? Blowing hard when we got there so went a bit small on the rig. but conditions moderated back to 20knts and were planing comfortably, but not powered up. Broke the session up with a 100m beach run to pin down a mates escaped kite. Those things are a menace. CA58, Sting 34 Koyote 5.9

Yep, slowly getting dust off the gear. mucking around with the 5.3 wave sail today. Naish 110. Whipped by Trojan as usual.
Good fun, should do this more often :-)

What a great day up at Tinaroo Dam. Decided to go play in mountain man territory. Typical Tinaroo conditions 0 -25 knts in bullet sessions and just a good old skunking in between. Dragged Fast Fred of the lounge chair this morning and he came fpr the ride as well - although, dementia may have reared its ugly head - the silly bugger forgot his GPS. So it was a bit more of a relaxed sail for Fred today.
Decided to stick with the iS90. When the wind was on, it was well and truly on. Trying to negotiate the skunking sessions I decided to riig the 7.5 T4, just to see if I could get through the lulls - but alas....NO. But the shoulder wrenching bullets that just funnel in from the south were just to much for the 7.5, so, in the name of safety and seeing my kids for another day, decided to rig the 6.5 T4. Way more comfortable, but ended up swimming a whole lot more in the lulls.
From time to time, guys who sail up there reguarly do say the the dam chops up and that was one of the areas I found hard to contend with today. With the footstraps out on the rail, I was finding that the oncoming chop was really knocking my feet out of the straps. To stop that, I jambed them in further, only to experience that I couldnt pull them out to perform a gybe - hence no results. Ended up just rattling around with Fast Fred for a couple runs.
Ian was the standout today. What a machine. Should come home with a bag of Pb's. All up a great afternoon on the mountain.

Huey seemed to have Sunday off with a dying breeze by the time I hit the water this afternoon. Cruisy sail although water was still a washing machine for most it.

3567 days ago Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU. Another good day at the Dam -- two in a row !! solid 15-20 kn with an occational 25 kn bullet. Good fun day with some of the coastal crew -- Fast Freddy and Brash Billy -- who showed Ian, Curl and I how to sail fast. Billy was first out arriving around 11am, and was very keen to check the depth of the dam in many places by jumping off when ever he got a chance. We had expected a bit of debris in the water after the rain, but it was all clear -- dam has risen about 1.7m in height or 15% -- now 73%. Ian hung on to a very flat 7m the rest of us were mostly using 6.5`s. We were glad to have Freds van to shelter behind during a few rain squalls. See you all next time.

Rough as it gets nasty gusty southerly, gusting from 5 to 35knts.
Pushed up wind to machines hoping to find flat water near the barron river mouth, as it was so south that if you tried to bear away you would head strait into the 2m wave faces that were standing up nicely with the off shore wind. (need to get a new wave board for these days)
Just as I made it up to the river mouth and the wind dropped out so had to grovel most of the way back.
Used Isonic 90 R6 Overdrive 6.2

3567 days ago Port Douglas, QLD, AU Quick afternoon sail with a couple of the locals, wasn't that keen but thought i might make the effort anyway..Wind was up and down from 18to 30 kts with major direction changes.which made it very hard to stay in tune with the universe..ocean was as rough as guts and fighting a strong in coming tide so had to stay hard on the wind the whole time it ,was way to rough to lite it up down wind anyway.. Had a big surf break on the beach so ididn't stop for a socal chat till it was all over Dropped a few to many gybes out the back which pissed me off ... Did a 30km push bike ride in the morning think that took the edge of me felt like i was sailing a bit flat footed ..Worked my ass of for a good 2hrs , only did 50km...Have had better sails.. I shouldn't whinge realy ,lucky to get a sail at all this time of year..97lt Isonic 5.4m North rig 35cm fin..Cheers Ed
