Wollumboula Lake, NSW, AU

Awesome day. Rain sqaulls, gale force winds, bullets even stronger, a fuller than normal lake which meant it was very choppy where it's normally flat and then after an hour and a half of sailing finally found the sweet speed strip that I'd heard about. Spent an hour finding the best place to bear away and it was awesome when you got it right.

Had to leave early to pick up the kids but left Stu to use up the rest of the wind. Hope you get back in ok Stu. It was scary sailing back to the launching area. I know where I'll be sailing tomorrow.

Primbee, NSW, AU. F2 256 Mystery, 5.2m Loft Pure Lip, 30cm Makani surf fin.

Quite a short one today and overpowered for most of it on the 5.2. Amazing seeing those bullet like gusts come through, and also quite hard to literally see anything when heading upwind with the horizontal rain impacting on my face and visibility down to a couple of hundred metres aswell. Good adrenalin rush though and I even managed to get the car slightly bogged in the waterlogged carpark. Looking fwd to tomorrow arvo.

Wollumboula Lake, NSW, AU

First time at Wollumboula today and she turned it on big time. Found some nice flat spots despite the deeper water and chop. Unfortunatly by the time we found the sweet spot I was stuffed. Thought about heading in to grab the W49 but got smash all the way in so decided to pull the pin. I seem to be stuggling for top speed at the moment but I still had a blast. Look forward to heading back a little more prepared. Nice one MT Cool

Fantastic sailing Mark in wild conditions, is that the fastest speed on Lake W.

Where is Stu, it would have been a long drive home.

Nice going Stu. It was wild out there. Your speed will come in time. You were off the water a long time, so as your confidence grows your speed will come to.

Terry.  Yes, I think 42 is the top speed for the lake. Keef would know for sure.

Dezza. The rain was annoying, but the more you bear away the less you feel it. I did start sailing with clear glasses but lost them when I crashed in the middle of the day.

Cheers Mark. It got really nuts after you headed off. White out squalls, more like crazy westerly than a southerly. It took me a good half hour or more with multiple jibes and bail outs to get back from the speed strip. Yeah not really sure whats out with the speed. Ive had to long to think about it. Ive changed some things too, which may not have helped. Also sails are looking like they need a good tune. But yes I need a real good session to get the confidence up. Foot feels good though Smile Still tossing up if I should head back tomorrow or use my last day off to get the trailer closer to finished???Maybe ill duck over to Primbee to check Matts not bogged in the car parkWink

Mark i had a look at your tracks and it tooks like you could have gone in furter on the smooth section , in a n/easter you can go in level with the shore line even past it  , i imagine there was a wind shadow stopping you from getting in

with some luck you will have a better angle with the ss/e as long as the full strength of the wind gets onto the lake ,

just keep an eye out for floating debrey coming out of the creek , if my ribs are up to it ill join you Wink

Thanks Keef. You're right, the wind was a bit gusty in close. We'll see what the SE direction gives us tomorrow. Hope to see you out there.

Cheers Stu, just knock really loudly on the car window when you get to Primbee car park tomorrow and wake me up, we'll get out there. Wonder if this is a good enough excuse to get another day off work. Nice numbers Mark😀
