Probably the shortest sail I have ever had! Got blown away on the 6.3 and had to be back on the GC early so could not wait until the speed run was working.

Packed up quickly with the idea that seaworld might be working but no good Cry

WSW when we rigged and was looking good, but dropped after first run and went offshore to SW. Nice to be out though and the water was still nice and warm for my swim back to shore! Cool

Got out early had a few good run but then got blow off the water with the 7 on the 112 came in waited for the tide too come up for the flat side of the bank was rigging the 6.3 but Vando said his rigging his 5.6 so I did also, with my speed board wind was gusting over 35kts but as we got out it died damn.

Heaps of old faces good old westerlies brings them out.

Gear everything just about.

first big westerly this year was going off in the morning went out with the 6.2 got smashed just too rough.

came in and waiting for the bank to be sailable by the time it was it back off errrYell.

Anyway got some decent runs in then change to the IS90.

Gear IS90(Volt32) 6.2 then IS49 and 5.6 (23weed) then put the IS90 (25weed) back on.

Bank too shallow really anymore damage my 23 and the water just about to overlay the bank.

JP Slalom IX 91L (59wide), Select 33cm, EVO5 6.4m. Wow I was spanked today. Attended the last round of Freerace for the Jetty to Jetty. There was much deliberation before the race as to how it should run as it was nuking in the middle so the course was changed to help everyone's chances at surviving. I started behind the pack not really knowing where we were going so I could follow but soon lost sight of the leaders as I turned my efforts into fighting with the gear as we were heading deep off the wind and riding over the back of some wild chop all the time sheeting out. Well my first run ended up ploughing through the back of a wave and over the front we go doing something to my knee in the process. Continued to the mark and then headed for home - Now this is where it was interesting as I don't wear my glasses (can't really see long distance) and everyone had gone so I was pointing to where I though I shold be. Turns out that I was somewhat east of where I should be and really had to pinch upwind to make land.

Anyway I didn't do the next round as I wasn't comfortable with the gear and needed about 5.4m sail and a board that handles chop better. Many thanks to the organisers of Freerace, Surf Connect and all that attended. It's a great thing to spend time with awesome people.

PS. Wasn't going to post the shitty results but thought I should mention Shornecliffe is a pretty great place to windsurf.

Thanks guys. Awesome speed by the rest of the Mob and Vando - Wow. My hat's off to Dave Sandos as he was ripping it up as I was clearly out of my league with the gear at hand. I have learnt the term "fully powered up" and discovered that slalom gear does not de-power when off the wind and sheeting out. I'd love to give some flat water a try with the same gear and conditions as it just takes off...... Unfortunately this time into the backside of the chop ahead. Sure lets you know you are alive!

Go MBM!
