Melville Beach, WA

Fun social day - great to see so many out braving the massive gusts and ugly chop.

Wind was light when rigging so went for the 7m, no sooner hit the water at 12.30 than it booted in to about 25 knots.

The NM run was a bit tight but smoothed up a bit off Majestics where I got the peak.

Quit early - it was one of those days when it could have unravelled very quickly Laughing

Bit of a workout in the end and quite a challenge to get good speed with the rough chop. Good amount of people out considering it was a bit chilly.

I went down to Melville this afternoon intending to sail even though  was still a bit tired after yesterday, but was encouraged not to by the number of sailors coming in and saying how unpleasant it was out there. Alan was packing up already. Shortly after a gust came through which rocked me back on my heels - it needs about 30 knots to do that- so I decided I would stay for moral support only. The chop was horrible and the wind gusty. Most people didn't stay out for long, but maybe they were going home to watch the Dockers game? What a great weekend. Both WA teams through to the preliminary finals. Whoo Hoo! ...and now we cross back to the windsurfing... Mark had already gone home when I arrived, and there was still wind, so that is saying something, though he might have been a teensy bit tired after a huge effort yesterday. JJ and Lunny came in shortly after, with Lunny saying he was worn out after only 60 odd km. It takes a lot to wear Lunny out. JJ had been hammering out nm in his usual style, and given the conditions, no-one expected a result anywhere close to yesterday, even JJ himself. Congratulations JJ on a 31 knot nm in such gnarly conditions.

Tailwind came along as JJ and Lunny were leaving, and I was able to get him some expert help in sail tuning (thanks Rowen), which should have helped make that Reflex a lot more manageable.

Sean came along soon after that and it was good to catch up after such a long time. He did have his GPS with him and it was charged, so I hope he remembers to post his numbers.

It was good to catch up with a few of the team I haven't seen in a while, and a few who I saw just yesterday. I hope more of you got out, and if I missed having a chat with you, I am sorry.

its been a long time since i've been on the slalom gear or posted a score but managed to get out for a pretty good sail today and wasn't too rusty

bit dissapointed when packing the car realised that my fav 91 mistral proto had reached the end of her long hard life on her last session so had to pack the old 76 isonic

but it was good to sail somthing else for a change and see exactly why i liked that 91 so much

so much so i'm going to have to get another one

pretty happy with the numbers considering i've done nothing but formula for ages but with summer coming around it will be nice to post a few more regular sessions if i get away from work

not too tired as well although i think i might not pull up too well tomorrow

good to catch up with a bunch of people as well

one of those days though all my best speeds are from down the middle of the river

76 isonic, 5.6 Reflex4, 30 jp sl

not a bad combo but i think the sail made it all feel a bit better, i really love that 5.6 too

After lots of gasbagging rigged the 6.8 to launch straight in to 25+.

One trip across the river and came back to put in some weight but bashing in to nasty chop didn't appeal and went home with my tail between my legs.

Melville, gusty and lumpy but good to get out, I think I spent more time talking than sailing. Went for the mistral 112 and 6.6, was right some of the time.

Mark, after yesterday's massive effort in not-very-flat water you are forgiven for being a bit soft today. That all round effort in a single session was enough to put you #1 on the individual rankings (int) for the month so far. You are an amazing athlete and an inspiration to us all. Super session from you yesterday. Thanks for coming to sail with us.

You're still #1 Mark, for September 2015. Stroppo is #2.
