Nice sail on the last of the tide. Started 85L Naish, 5.9 Koyote, then wind dropped until it was a battle to get planing. Swapped for the CA58 and Tribal Weed Speed 25 as the water shallowed. Aside from slicing my toe open on the tip of the fin before I got into the water, I am extremely impressed with this fin. Even did the job upwind, underpoweered in small chop. Can't wait to unleash in bit more breeze.

Have been out west last two days and missed a decent chance for sail Friday.  Got up early this morning and finished my work on site in Barcaldine and was away by 9.45.  Jumped in the car and did the 650 km in 6h 15min including having to go through bloody Rocky.  On the water at 4.30 for what can only be described as the best possible way to end a pretty shitty day.  Wind was never there for the 7.0 but it was already rigged from my last sail on the 2nd.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

The 'Freemantel Doctor' visited Port Douglas this arvo and blessed us with epic sailing conditions on small gear..By the time i made it down the beach big Andrew was already out blasting on his' free ride weapon' with a 6m sail cranked down hard..He did a good solid hr and pulled up before he started breaking shit..Which i thought was a good move as he had already had a good sail...I hit the water on 97lt' Isonic turbo duck' with 5.4m north rig cranked down hard and was running a 35cm select fin..seemed like the perfect combo in a rough sea and a very solid 25kt breeze..The Duck was totaly cool all arvo even when put under pressure..The inner core of one harness line snapped rather early in the session so had to spend the next 2hrs nursing a rooted harness line and had to stay off the gas a bit on out ward runs.. dropped a couple of gybes in rather trying conditions which i can live with..went over the handle bars once ,hit some very nasty waves flat chat and lost it big time, total human error, and a badly damaged ego..am forced to live with that..was clocking up some good km  and  having some serious fun but harness line finally snapped just on sun down so it was game over for me and the Duck...Not happy with Chinook harness lines .Have snapped 3 of them this season, someone is gunna cop some abuse over this..Was nice to have a good blast on small gear for a change...Cheers Ed..

Jaffa, 6.4 Koncept, Talon 32, Holloways.

Probably should have gone out on the big board but Jaffa is just to much fun.

Quick sail in between work around the house.

That's probably the best team turn out we've had in a while.  Good to see you haven't forgotten to sail Phil.

Port Douglas

Massive wind - short one hour sail with my "Green Machine" Atomiq 120litre - Gator 6m, Maui Fin Co. 38cm freemove fin [$70 through seabreeze].  Second outing with this fin, the other was on Thursday - it is good with 6m and 7.2m Fusion - kept the board in the water.  Really ugly slop to sail in and more than enough breeze.  My mate Ed came out for a look and then ducked home to get his gear.  Unfortunately, by the time he got back I was stuffed and starting to think about high speed catapults.  I decided to live to fight another day.  My brain is still catching up from three weeks without any wind at all...  Ed has been on at me to move the mast base back an inch in the heavy stuff... from what I've read that goes against the principles of high wind sailing - but for the wicked FNQ chop this seems to do the trick - keeps the tail in the water and the front of the board can do its thing.  Especially with the volume this Atomiq has - dreaming of a 107 2014 isonic in twelve months.  So I am a convert. Have to say once again - much thanks to my teacher, Ed, for the mateship and the expert tips.  Hopefully Monday afternoon will see the wind a few knots down so I can be a bit cruisier.  Great to be a part of a great group of mates.  Regards, Andrew.

The new GPS 52 Locosys is something I am still working on, but data for 2 second burst showed 24.88 knots.  Three weeks ago I hit 28knots.  Ed's gonna have to start watching his back.....
