Roo (15866km): Stevenson, WA LB6.3 MS55 VFV29 What a difference a day makes. Got skuned 2 says in a row and then a marginal 7.0 session yesterday that I didn't bother to record on the gps. Unusual afternoon easterly for the Gorge but I'll take it. Wind was warm and dry with not a lot of meat to it so speeds were nothing to write home about. Lined up a few wave troughs to get some decent runs on my new board. Good conditions to test it in. Goldilocks weather, not to windy not too light, not too choppy not too flat....just right for testing. Found a Mistral Speed 55 in Holland and had UPS ship it over, Arrived safe and sound and got a proper christening today. Ran with the usual sail/fin combo so I hard a yardstick to judge it against. The things a little weapon, effortless through the chop and the extra length stops you from spearing through the back of waves. Will be interesting to ride it wound up with the 5.6 in the Gorge chop...stay tuned for an update! | ||||||||||||||||||
Barton (5511km): Bonaire Lac Bay. Sailworks Bravo 6.5, JP MR 118, Fin: 40 cm Ride, wind: 15 - 17 knts Another short session. Trying to be 'more responsible' and get some projects accomplished before playing. Unfortunately the wind died shortly after I arrived. Tried out a couple of different wind 'angle of attacks' in the north shallow area - got improved speeds. Tried 'pointing harder' in the south section, also works but the chop will make this difficult when the wind comes up. The north area will work well until the freestylers show up January to April and want their practice area back.... |
