Not quite the wind conditions that Stu and I wanted but still a great place to spend a day windsurfing.
Arrived at the speed strip at about 9am hoping the predicted all day 25-30kts would happen but by lunch we still hadn't got a fully planing run. I knew I should have brought that bigger board but the 7.0 ended up a good size when the wind finally started to build around 1pm. By 3pm the wind peaked at about 22kts, a bit gusty and shifty but the flat water runs were heaps of fun. A good first ever session at Mallacoota, the speed strip is awesome, I just hope next time we get the wind bit right.
A great day sailing, thanks for the invitation Stu.

As Mark said we didnt get what we were hoping for in the forecast breeze but good enough in the arvo for a blast. Went with the R6 7.8m and stuck with it till the end. It was good most of the time but maybe a bit of a drag issue for the top end speed but thats more of a skill issue id say. Was on the JP 65 Slalom apart for a couple of runs on the Mistral speed 95 which was a little to hard in the flukey breeze. Tried multiple fins but nothing in my kit to do the job in this spot so had to steel a couple of MT specials, Cheers mate
We'll be coming back with a better idea next time. From what we found Mallacoota has more to offer then a SW speed strip. It could also be a nice place to play for a couple of days in S, SE and NE too.
Mission accomplished
