Chrisy (2200km): had a bit of a runaround trying to find a landing strip flat enough and long enough otc end was well choppy which is odd ,, was a bit in the middle,,, but was to short before the railway sleepers nuking conditions thought id bring a bit of help to hold me down ( step flashings tortila style ) good bit of fun
Woodbutcher (2790km): bit breezy! not bad for a 7 year old Tushy storm.
Dogfish (14874km): Hard work this morning, great sailing with Rob King and Mike George :)
Jim Crossley (5677km): 9 hours driving with one board and one sail in the van for 2 hours on the water was a lot of work but it was worth it. Conditions were mental and I rigged my sail all a bit wrong while trying to hold it down in 50 knots. Had to use brute force to pin it down round the slingshot...all in all could have done with a smaller rig. Not a classic but good to be back on a speed board.
Goostaff (2301km): A big thanks to Simon for being the only one keen to sail today. I nearly didn't go out today when 70 knot gusts were being recorded at South Devon early this morning. In the end it was very nice to sail on the small speedboard with 5m. The wind was strong and perfect for high speeds but the angle was totally square meaning the only chance of getting decent speeds was to bear into the chop. After half an hour or so I got used to things and had a few nice slingshots over towards the other side. Really not a day for averages today but this wind strength with 30-40 degrees more angle would nigh on be perfect. It's probably not a place to use a weight jacket and I'm glad I didn't since the mud really drains your energy and I had a real scare getting out finding myself in waist deep mud on exit. Glad to be home safe and sound! |
