3266 days ago Better than work hey Elm, I got there 20kts plus, rigged 6,3m as flat as it would go, got on water 12 to 15kts, wind was very gusty, and only once was it windy all the way down and back on the alpha run, and hence the decent gybe. Tabou Manta 54, Delta Slalom 22/55.

3266 days ago 2 categories Another great Fangys session, shared with the man himself, Fin, Pepe and Hardpole.
Wind was just under forecast from 1100 to 1400 which showed it peaking around 5 or 6
So rigged a bit optimistically relying on forecast to stay on track. Used the 5.8 on fairly tight, with the 43cm board and assy 18cm 50deg weedy.
I hit the water when it actually peaked about 1400, first run was my fastest, and I couldn't beat it. Had some fun in the alpha markers, but I think I'm still pointing too high on the inward leg, but I wanted to be able to point the little board downwind a bit coming out of the gybe, to get it going.
If Pepe beats my alpha by 2kts again today I'll spew, cause that would give him a score very close to 26kts, and well and truly beat my PB.

3266 days ago Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. CA52/tushy5.8. started out with very little water so chucked the MUF 17 on. Tried to drive into the gybe too hard and slid out big time. changed to vector 23 weedspeed when the tide lifted a little. A fun afternoon's sailing in a good (but holey) breeze, but I was the only one out - go figure?
Had a bit of a go at the alphas, but no improvement :(
6 days sailing in a row ....in Bunbury!

3266 days ago Well that was shite!!!!!!!!
Picked up my car from the mekanick where they told us I'll have to put up with the airconditioner blowing warm air for another week till the parts arrive, stopped in at Frangas to see everyone flying around.
Went home hooked up the trailer headed down to Novara where there wasplenty of whitecaps and the dude which I was chatting to ripping around on a 5m wave sail (he was flying along) I could see Hardz in his playground doing his Thang so I rigged the small board and the 7.0m as a compromise and go down there and keep him company.
There was still plenty of wind blowing when I hit the water even enough to get going straight away, however I should have twigged something was up when I was running out of puff near the rock garden, but still I persevered and headed down to Hardz to stuff his day up.
Eventually got down to the big fella where he advised it was a tad gusty, but still I persevered, Watched the Hardz go down the run to see his line then followed suit, bit of a painfully start picked up some weed on take of but eventually shook it of before the markers went down the run laid it into the gybe and instantly felt the fin ball up with weed.
And thus the fun started with the next Half hour trying to extract my fat arse from that weed hell hole. My arms blew out quite quickly it just went downhill further from there.
Nice corner Hardz, it was better than work, probaly on par with mistaking Dencorub for Hemorrhoid cream

3265 days ago Boobays - 25-30 SSE - Day 8 - spot 80%
I was going to go home, then I look the forecast, changed my mind.. anyway Im in no rush, may as well enjoy it! It was looking good early arvo, solid wind S SSW, by the time I went up to the run, waited 1hr to be right, the wind came back to that shit direction. 2-5 deg direction makes all the diff between a great and a average session!! Still good to see a 39 on the screen, and to be back on the ski..
People think I been difficult probably, but I know the place, and its not all about going fast for me, its about having great runs. I havent been here last year, Im not sure if something has changed since!! It was really cranking across the wind, then Fakall on the edge, which is typical SSE The cool thing about that direction is you can do longer runs, but you not powered. On the pic, I always put the car facing S , we can see the wind is SSE!
Only managed to do 2 runs at Riskys one was 38, that bloody SSE made it too broad! Pitty I really want to play on that run like the other day, but wiz more wind and the small board. I stay here until Sat now, and we see what happen.. My hands are a bit sore, and got some skin missing!
The gear felt right, 5.4 rigged properly, the 41 was easier that the 47 the other day in same wind. I dont seem to line up the holes in the cheese. I am running out of options, even the forecast says bla bla bla, dont trust it ;)
