Hardie (35820km): Enjoyable sail when lloked like it could be a skunking. Got to Liptons and I was measuring 10 to 11kt gusts, and I thought not looking good. Then It picked up a touch, thought I'd rig the 7.9m KA Race, JP 66 wide slalom, and pepeweed 28/48, and had a ball, there were glassy patches at point gray where the wind must have been 30 cm above the water and it was sensational as the board accelerated over glassy water
Hammer (558km): Coodanup, WA, AU. F2 B&J 85L, Severne 6.7 wave sail. Delta 21. A casual afternoon sail with Ross and Pas. Pas took one for the team and packed up early and soon after the breeze picked. Onya Pas.

Decrepit (54652km): Not much wind when I arrived at liptons, Saltynuts was rigging big stuff, some nice looking glass in the little bay and a big stretch at Pt Grey. Couldn't resist the call of smooooooth, so I also rigged big, plugging the 6.6koncept into the 53cm board with the 20cm 55deg weedy. Speed girl meanwhile had launched, going ok in the gusts but finding some holes. I followed her example, tried the little bay and it was very holey, so risked the lull in the middle of the boating channel and checked out the glass at Pt Grey. That was much more fun, but after an hour or so the wind seemed to be dying so made my way back to base, passing Saltynuts and hardie on the way. Think I made the wrong decision, because I had much better speeds when I went back out about an hour later
Stretch (31360km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. futura122/Tushy7.6/36weedy took my son Lachy out for a sail with him using a 5m wave sail on futura. He's progressing well, getting planing a few times, but not fully in the straps just yet. rigged up the x15 and went out for 1/2hr when he was done. Im looking forward to the day when we're both out sailing together
Oaf (7437km): Coodanup, WA, AU Nice cruisey session at the local. Fangman, Fin and Hammer out when I got there.

fangy (22667km): Fangy's with Fin,Hammer and briefly 'Ken at the end. Light wind session on the 1995 F2 Xantos - it's Greek for party barge island - with a fair chunk of sail to get things moving. Koncept 8.5 delta 23. Things were a bit light on, but always enough to be planing.Just one of those days when the brain was set in neutral and I went sailing just for the joy of listening and feeling the the wind and water passing beneath my feet. A no effort yoga session for the soul :-). I am still getting a giggle out of the party barge. I had a good look at the bottom now most of the dust and crap has been washed off. It has a v shape that most speed boats would be hard pressed to beat. Now wonder it just crushes the smaller chop. It's reasonably flat in rocker profile between mast and foot straps with a decent tail rocker and increased V at the arse end. Typically of the time there is a huge amount of volume in front of the mast. Initially I thought this was just going to be wasted, but I have found that this needs to be used at lower speeds to speed up the transition to planing. That is, rather than planting the feet behind the mast and only having a small step into the straps as per modern board shape, its one foot right forward to sink the nose and pop up the bum, and then "walk the dog" back to the foot straps when the board starts gathering speed. I guess this might be a case of telling grandma how to suck eggs, but this much body movement along the board is all new to me. The other thing that I noticed a lot was the transition to planing is a super relaxed affair and almost imperceptible at times. There is no pronounced pop up and planing effect. It just seems to gather speed and rise up until you realise that indeed you are planing and time to start wandering aft to pop your clogs in the straps. So I spent the day cruising and mucking about and even managed to get a couple of videos of Bruce and Fin. I will post them as they upload during the day. Sorry about the crud on the lens - I forgot to check it. Sunshine and fair winds, relaxed to the core. Top ten Fangy Day
