Inveroch Windsurfing Club race day at Sandy Point. Great attendance!

We were greeted with 12-18 knots WNW at around briefing and with low tide at around midday the obvious place to sail was up the Yanakie channel. We sarted with a couple of long down and back course races that started very broad downwind, had a square secrion up the Yanakie channel and an upwind back to the finish. First race went with 110 IS, Tribal Speedweed 35 and 2016 7m Koncept. I realised immediatly on the downwind I was underpowered for upwind and downwind work but on the reach it was fine. Second race was reverse start order to finish position in the first race. Great fun way to do it! Laughing

I went with the 7.5m Koncept for the second race but I didn't make a great difference as the wind had got more holey. Great fun though. After lunch the call was for a 1/2 hr GPS freerace. By now it seemed the wind had filled in a bit. I rigged my 6.2m Koncept and took the IS87 down to the Yanakie to try it out. It was spot on and I hurried back to see try to get everyone going ASAP before the tide started coming in. I few were still rerigging so the start was delayed for 15 mins but we still got excellent flat water blasting in 16-20 knots about 1.5kn in each direction.

The first 1/2 hr went pretty well for me so I decided to continue for the 1hr. The second half saw the wind a bit gustier and slightly slower with the tide coming in and the water not as flat, but it was still great fun. My best 1/2 hr was 24.24kts at the start but that included about 6 mins before the official race and I had a wet gybe in the last 4 mins of the race so my race speed was around 23.7. It quite amazing how much difference a dropped gybe can make in a 1/2hr or 1hr!

An excellent day of fun racing. I look forward to many more from the IWC!

IS110, KA Koncept 7m, 7.5m and Tribal 35 Weedspeed.

IS87, KA Koncept 6.2m and Tribal 27 Weedspeed

Round two of the IWC race series. First was a race to the SECOND red buoy which some got to,others went around the first buoy, went OPPS and lost the lead.Tongue out Did alright with a equal 2 despite breaking the harness near the end. Next race was started with 1st place starting last and last place starting first, chase the fleet and finished first. Laughing 8.5 Koncept helped a lot with the downwind bit and just hand on for the upwind bit.

Coming in a kiter droped his kite on top of me tearing the top of the sail, then ran away to the bottom of the inlet. Good move as I may have had some not nice things to say. A quick chat with some mates, found his car and got some details. A bit of glue should fix it without too much drama. Lunch.

Next was a 1/2hr GPS race on some nice flat water at the Yanakie channel, 15/20 sailors going flat out along a bank and not one near miss.

Its that easy people.

Chased Daffy all the way and the slightly longer legs helped me win that race as well. On a roll. Laughing

Race two was lumpy and bumpy, so just two of us made enough to have a go ,Kempster and I chased smooth bits across the shallows till we ran out of arms and called it a day. Results still pending on this one Undecided

A fun day

Sl66, Koncept 8.5, Venom 40 for the race

Sl 52, Koncept 7.5 ,24 speed

Looks like Mallacoota will be firing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hoping the planets align with a weekend soon so I can do a 3 day dash down and back.
