Sailquik (29582km):
3202 days ago We finally got a reasonable sail at Goodwin Sands! With Issac, Chappie and Old Codger.
The forecast was looking quite good and the tide was good so it was another road trip!
We launched at about 11am and found the sands exposed nicely. The wind was up and down and not that strong so I rigged the 6.2m Koncept and went with the IS87 and Tribal 27 WeedSpeed. It was a bit light to start but after a while a big black cloud came in and the wind filled in steadier at around 18-20.
Gary and I got onto a couple of good gusts and 36-37 peak speeds. It was ideal speed angle at the start (between WSW and SW) but slowly came back more to the SW which made it easier to get up the course and easier to run down in less wind. Eventually, the wind went slmost square and we were sailing up and down both ways, but the wind started to die out. With the tide coming in and the bank submerging we called it a day. As usual, as we were leaving the wind kicked in to 25-30 knots.
I tried on run on the speed board at the end but ended up floating for 10 mins 'till I could find a gust to get back to shore. Not idea conditions but still great fun. I would take that again any day.
I still can't wsit to get this on a 30kt+ Sou'Wester. It will be sensational!
A few pics from my video goggles: (I will post some video when I get home)
