Andrew (2314km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU isonic 133 s-type 8.2m 53cm fin. A beautiful sunny day in FNQ - Ian and Freddie came over for a sail. At first things were looking poor - about 12knots when we got there. The first hour was pretty dodgy, I had some runs but spent a lot of time not on the plane and getting washed up the beach. Then, the breeze kicked in - working its way up to the 18knot mark, we all had fun. I had let a ton of downhaul off to get going and now I was a little overpowered so I flattened it out and had some really nice runs, powered up - thought I would have gone a bit faster and thought I might have sailed a bit longer. Gradually making longer runs offshore. The big isonic and big sail were lots of fun. I practiced my gybes today and had some success - I will keep persevering. Ian looked fantastic on the board. Ed changed down from his 117 isonic to his favourite 97 litre and peeled off his usual big distances. By the end of it we were all happy with the afternoons' effort. Very happy to increase my 1 Hour average and my Nautical Mile knots. I am going about 500 metres further offshore so I think I am getting more consistent readings from the Nautical Mile. Tomorrow if the wind Gods are kind, hopefully I will increase my distance travelled and my 2 second Peak. A big thank you to my mate Ed for the 6th nose job he has done on my Atomiq - I now have a padded nose protector on it, so that will hopefully save me from more damage. He also had a go at my iSonic - filling up some dings and scrapes and hopefully getting me an extra two knots. Freddy showed off his fancy new rig and his new setup for keeping his gear in the back of his flash new ute - very impressive woodcraft indeed.

Ian (2269km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU, Exocet Turbo Boost 67, nitro 36", gator 7M. First sail since October last year, Great to be back on the water sailing with good friends, Fred, Andrew and Ed. Only a short sail, light winds early and about 15 Knots for the last couple of runs before I ran out of energy.
Eddy (24292km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU Wouldn't of bothered sailing today, but Ian made the effort to come down for a sail after struggling for months with serious illness..Fast Freddie and my wing man Andrew were also there to welcome him back to the water..Wind looked rather dodgy so it was out with all the big gear..117 Isonic 7.7m rig and biggest fin i could find..Was Just enough wind to keep me amused and the rest of the crew sailed with various degress of success...Wind freshened up a bit ..'.And the Boys Lite Up'..Had a few good runs with 'Fast Freddie'..Ian was on Fire and having a good blast..Andrew came honking back up the beach looking for some serious action..All good fun..Had a strong incoming tide all arvo so had to stay hard on the wind the whole time didn't want to know about struggling back up the beach.. One of the boom tail adjusting clips broke in the second half of session, so did a dodgy repair with half a roll of electrical tape by this time there was enough wind to have a quick blast on 97lt board..Which was the high light of the day..knocked off a bit early to have a chat with the boys..Everyone went home happy and we were all surprised that Ian did as well as he did..Good to see..I was surprised to see how well Freddo did on smaller gear, he was bloody hard to catch at times..Glad he didn't have a bigger rig never would of stayed with him..Andrew well done on PB's mate you earnt them ...All in All an OK session..Guess it was worth rigging up for...Cheers Ed...
Freddy Burke (12114km): Arrived home just after 7-00 to wife waiting to go out for tea. Made the effort to go to Port today as Ian said he was going there as well and I had not seen him for quite a while as he is on the mend from the big 'C'. Ian looked well and sailed very well and you just gota admire his strength and positive attitude......well worth the trip. On the other hand, the wind was not quite as expected .....a little light for the first hour/hour and a half but came in for a while to lift our sprits even though a couple of us were buggered by then! Eddy looked the goods today and was sailing/circling everyone. Edd's top student ...Andrew has improved out of sight and was doing longer and faster runs and handling that 8.2m sail very well....keep those pb's coming Andrew. Man of the match was hard to pick today ....maybe Ian seen he hasn't sailed for sooooo long, with Edward a close second. RRD XFIRE 102, LOFT O2 6.6, CANEFIRE 38.
