Our first day of the three at SanctuaryPoint. This was really the most successful day as we did 3 half hour free races and 2 longdistance slaloms which consisted of 2 figure 8 on a longer distance.

Certainly wore ourselves out. The kms proove that.

I used the 80.05 wide isonic with the Severne 9m and a big weed fin. In fact that is the rig l have used all weekend.

Was a good weekend. Shame not more have turned up. Its their loss.

Palm Beach Sanctuary Point 7.8 m OD - 115Xcross 38cms Makani weedy.

I was feeling stuffed from the big day yesterday so I decided to just go for distance and explore as it was a lovely spot with long runs and sandy beaches.I'm out of shape in chop and it was  a patchy 5 -15kts.

It wasn't to be.Undecided I went riiiight over the other side, stuffed the gybe in the chop and struggled to uphaul the big heavy sail in the 15kts wind . I was at the limit of my strength.

I finally got going and decided to go back in and change down but the boom came off in my hand..Argh!

I'm not a great swimmer and being rundown I only just caught the sail in the last grab before I was going to give up and let  it go.

Flagged down another sailor to get the rescue boat which felt like it took half an hour or more.( probably didn't) .Lucky I am careful and wore a springsuit and helmet..It took what felt like another half hour to get me and the gear on board and I had to take my helmet off so I could hear so the windchill got me and I was very cold by the time I got in.

The guys did a great job..I spent  the next hour or so sitting in the sun trying to warm up.(  woke up this morning with a touch of sunstroke..feeling really bad). I finally put a dry steamer on with polar feece and windproof over that.

It really wrecked my confidence but I decided to rig my 7m NCX for the first time and go out for a cruise to get it  back.

The NCX seems to have more low end grunt than the OD but powers on quicker in the patchy conditions so it was tiring and a bit tricky in and out of the straps.I got some gorgeous long runs when I did get a windy patch and it seemed to have a softer feel in the  chop than with the cammed sail.Tongue out

I got a few gybes. The wind was starting to come in but I had a headache and felt crappy so I finished up.Pity as I wouyld have liked to try the slalom.

The guys scored a good patch for their first race and it looked great!

Here's the tracks.. sorry I couldn't help it had to show the pretty tracks..Laughing When I sat on the board the whole lot kept roatating 360 degrees with the wind and chop..
