Sandy Point, Vic.

Waited all day for the wind to swing from straight West, to a few degrees south. It finally did so around 6pm as the tide was going out. Too choppy for the first few runs and I felt the 16.5cm fin was too small. I felt a lot of crabbing, so I came in and changed to the 18cm. It was a good move and I immediatly put on a couple of knots. It was very windy at first and I was struggling with the 5.4m Koncept, even when it was very broad for the first few runs. Then it flattened out as the wind hit the idel angle and I had my best two runs. After that the wind eased a bit and went even more south so it was very flat but not quite broad enough. I walked back with the sun starting to get close to the top of the big sand dune.

Nice session, but it felt like I should have got a lot more speed from that wind strength. I might have to review my set up a but and try some different settings. I think I have proved to myself that the tip extension on the mast is not producing more speed. The sail feels great, but not as fast.

Wind 260 30-35 at the start, went to 250-245, 25-30 at the end.

CA40, Tribal Assy Speed 16.5 then 18cm, 2017 KA Koncept 5.4m, GW-52

Inverloch, 5.8 Koncept and Mistral SP47.

Crazy day. Wind up and down. 15-35knots.

Doug Hocken does his neck and arm by ploughing through his sail, rescued by Roy and me and sent off to hospital by chopper.

One of those days.

Second fastest alpha, proving the middle bank has the potential. Unfortunately I was spent when I went for it, after a 25km hike in the morning, sailing overpowered for an hour, resuing Doug and then swimming through the channel to retrieve my equipment.

In the right conditions and with juice, I hope a 28knot apha is possible there. Cool

Yambuk Lake Vic (15km West of Port Fairy)

WSW today 15 - 25kts, a better angle.

The cattle while crossing the farm paddock kept eyeing the "red" severne sail bag!

Went deeper across the weed beds, at times it was almost glassy! I felt occasional drag on the fin.

This spot has potential. I'll be back.

Nice 2 sec and 5x Sailquik. I think that is dedication waiting all day for 9 kms. Glad it paid off.

Felt like a lot more than 9 Km's when I walked back every run! Cry

Oh, I just ran GPS-Results again with the 5Kt filter off and it is 15.5Km. So I walked at least 6.5km back up the speed bank! Smile

Nice to be home Andrew? That's one of the good things about going away, you get to come back home.

Daffy great to hear you're home!.

You've really gotta come to Inverloch in those westerlies.

More fun than the Pit.

Alphas are killer and the water is flatter on the low tide.

I would say the wind is not much less too. I was totally nuked on the 5.8 for instance.

Shorter runs, but there are three to choose from at the moment.

Hi Red, access is from the caravan park.

I carried my gear (unrigged) about 600m, rigged up and sailed downwind a few hundred metres. It was only a few tacks to get back later.

You need a weed fin and booties. The depth is up to 1.5m deep like swan bay. I sailed the west and WSW wind but would also work in NW,NE, SE.

PS: Hoping to be at swan bay tomorrow (friday arvo).

You can see the weed beds below on google earth.
