The wind here is relentless been blowing 20 to 30kts now since yesterday morning.
Very hard to sleep last night in the caravan as we were getting hammered all night by the gust.
Went down Smithton and Marrawah for some Sue time this is on the west coast and was told it would be exposed which it was.
First sail on my speed board for 6 months this kind of wind and flat water dosen't happen up our way often. Got a call from Barry tides right from early sail. Pictures is where they wave sail down this way,

Good turn out today and nice sail once I gave up on the old beat up Sontagg fins. Surprisingly alright Alpha guessing was down at Lot thought I would be struggling in the lighter conditions down there with the 32 fin…

Bayside GPS competition - Alphas and 5x10. Rigged at Wello and did my 5x10s along the bank. Eventually the tide receded to far and there were too many kiters, so I headed over to Lota. Lota was no good for speed but great for alphas. I did my alphas here., slowly increasing the result from 20 to 23 kts. All in all a great afternoon sail. I was completely shagged when I carried the gear across the flats at Wello to derig. Ian, Thanks for oragnising.

2880 days ago Beachmere, QLD, AU upwind to mouth bribie passage.
Had a lot of fun on the waveboard with lots of ramps on port tack with crossshore conditions with pointer fin and Glynns old 6.2 Koncept.
Switched to the trusty old Wind Action 275 as tide dropped and worked an upwind slog to bribie passage with lots of peaky chop . Flattened out but wary of bottom and offshore conditions on my own i didn,t break any speed records but learnt a few more possibilities for the future and a better launch site toward Godwin Beach to the east. Running out of time headed back hoping for a good hour but both arm strength and wind started to fade.
Sure was a tough way to crack the 100 K but the challenge in new terrain made my day . Just need to try to sort google overlay now to complete it.

90km on Patrik 115, Avanti 7.6 & STII40.
Then changed down to IS87, Avanti 6.8 & STII32
Headed up to the port with the hope of a big downwinder back however the tide was too low between the port and Wynnum and I ended up aground with a long walk back to water so gave up on the "hour" run - was also very overpowered and exhusted when I got back to Wello..
Great first sail for the year..

Was down the coast for the wekend so thought I would give the seaway a crack. Not sailed there in a NE before. Getting a park was a challenge. Thought Wello was a pain - took me half an hour driving up and back before I managed to squeeze into a spot that was just big enough for a mimi let alone my car.
Once I got on the water I kept hitting the bottom. Followed Tony on one of the first runs to see where to go - but didn't relise he had a weedy on - so klunk. Than sailed back into shore and klunk. Than sailed back out more in the channel and gybed at the end of the run and klunk. Than sailed back into shore and thought I would gybe a little further out but klunk. No matter where I went I hit bottom. Only had a 32 on.
Couldn't do too many bare aways as there were kites galore. I counted 27 at one stage and than there were a bunch of windsurfers to boot. Surprising That Tony's colission was the only one!!

Nice sail at wello pretty warm though even in the water.
Had to bail on a run today at 36 knots to avoid a kiter pretty close call nothing broken luckily.
First time on the GSR 7.1 felt pretty sweet.
