Sandy Point. Vic

Early morning start. Very grateful that Cam was here, otherwise I probably wouln't have got out of beed this morning and missed a great session.

The conditions were a lot better than yesterday as the wind was about 10 degrees more south, the water was flatter and the wind steadier. It was about 5 knots less on average and without the killer squalls, but the other conditions made up for that.

I rigged the 5.4m as it looked like the wind was a bit less. Tossed up whether to take out the small slaom board but decided on the speed board, and that was definitly the better choice for me.

Jumped on at the lauch and got going easily so thought 'this will be a good run-in for the speed course'. Only tgo to hook in and realise I didn't have my harness on! Embarassed Had to walk back from the usual run start point to get it.

First run just touched 40 and was preparing myself for a slower day. Second run was high 41. Whooho! This is looking better. The next few runs were the fastest as the tide went slack and the wind got really steady and the angle at the bottom was perfect with quite flat water. The runs were a lot quicker to do today as we could sail back at least half the run. For a couple I sailed straight back to the start spot, but when you can do this the run is going to be too square so I waited for a subtle shift before launching. The last few of runs had the perfect angle but each was slower as the wind slightly eased. The last one got me to a 41 5 x 10 sec though. Smile

Still only got about 8 runs today but in about half the time it took yesterday!

Cam was looking a lot more comfortable today, but I think he would have been faster on the Speed board rather than the small slalom.

Below are the wind readings from the Yanakie station. Pretty much what we got I think. I sailed between 10.45 and 11.15am. Yesterday it was 4.30-7.30pm and  you can see on the wind readings it was stronger yesterday.

Posted from GW-52. Comments re other gps's same as ysterday, with the addition that I am noticing the peaks speeds shown on the GW-60 are a lot higher than the other two GPS. Today GW60 said 43.717, GW52 said 42.959 and Logit (10Hz) said 42.885. The Ublox, even though it is only a 0.1 sec speed, seems more reslistic. The GW60 peak speeds from the last two days are nuts!

Thankfully, the 2 sec and 10 sec speeds are very close with all of them. But I don't think you can have any confidence in the GW60 peaks speeds.

70 jybes for the 1 hr through the "Vortex of pleasure" Laughing

A nice sail after work.

Had a play up at Poo Shooters where the wind had a better angle but couldn't line up too much of the bank as the wind was drifting from w to sw at times.

At the 30 jybe mark the wind dropped off and it was a bit of a slog for 10 minutes which killed the 1 hr attempt. When it came back it I was well lit on the 5.8. Flat at both ends of the run with the Vortex working well on the outgoing tide.

I love to have some one dive down and have a look at the bottom cos its a very strange water state

Pretty happy with 70+ jybes and no stops and starting to get back the strap to strap laydowns.

Life/work balance is working well

Another great speed session with excellent results, noice!

Kato 70 gybes in an hour that's a massive effort Cool Cool

I think you should go have a look at the thread below on Seabreeze, there was beer on offer or a GW60 if you could crack 2000.

Not sure if 70 for the hr is correct but I counted to 70 then stopped, I'll get Daffy to check the track. It would have been a lot quicker if the wind was up the whole time. Worth having a crack on really a good day,Wink

My result is only appoximation & interpolation. I just manually look at good 27 minutes and extend to 60 min.
That will be result if our friend keep the same pace, but wind died so avarage drops.
Definitely for official results we should use GPSAR-Pro or similar algorithm. Probably Dylan could write routine as well if idea pick up popularity.
So my result is not official, but illustration how good sailing was today.
For competition to be fair we better stick to lower but verified results- like above you did for 1/2 and 1 hour.
Anyway this phenomenal result will be hard to beat! Lets say 1340,45

If Kato agree I could post to our Seabreeze competition right now, for others to see and compete against  .1340.45
PS my computation was  based on 27 min also show that 2000 mark is physically possible ( if wind allow , because our sailor was absolutely ready to withstand whole 60 min and actully speeds even getting higher later on )

Nice work Brad, spent many years sailing at Middle Park. Great training ground for going fast. Yes Invy/ Pit would have been easier on the knees. Good to get a Pb
