F2 Speed board, 6.3 TRX. Brutal morning wrestle with Sue and Lyds. Gusting 15-35kts, Lake really deep and very choppy.

A bit too lively for an old light weight like me, but expect some big numbers from the big boys

Well..it scared me a bit first getting on the water but up in the smoother wasnt so scary at all. Had the 5.6 on my 51cm speed board wuth 23 weedie and it was quite enjoyable except that l couldnt doany descent speed due to the chop...

15-35kts + SSW Buff Pt

5m OD—79ltre FF—23 gun 50weedspeed

 5m OD—50ltre isonic speedboard—19 delta

With the forecast predicting 29/30kts in the early morning going up to 40kts + in the afternoon I thought I better get there early before I was blown off the water!

1st one there at  7am to not much wind and rain. Andrew arrived as it kicked in. Wish my camera was waterproof..Both of us were tired and unenthused. I got into my wettie so I could rig without worrying about the rain but Andrew didn’t so when it pelted down he sat under his sail looking glum..Would have been a great shot!

Later Frothie was helping Hugh wheel his trailer into the parking area and it reminded me of the comment on Seabreeze where Eckas  said if Frothie got the shits he’d just lift the trailers and cars out of the way..We could have re enacted that idea for a great photo with suitable expressions..

Oh well back to the sailing. Can’t say I enjoyed most of it . The lake was way up—ankle deep areas now thigh deep. No flat water. I didn’t enjoy the falcon as it was too big for the conditions and bounced everywhere. I got the 2 sec on it though..I used the gun fin for the first time and it didn’t let go despite my crappy sailing..I wasn’t pulling the sail on much or pressuring it much though..

When I first went out I was the only one and the rain was so thick you couldn’t see the shore and they couldn’t see me..I sailed without my glasses today.

Isonic was a much better size and the delta didn’t let go.. I might use the gun 23 in it next time for more security. Think I only did one gybe ..played it safe as too over the top .

I followed Andrew on one bearaway..

Holy crap! I had been waiting for slightly flatter water in more of a lull but we went for it in the choppy strong stuff.. Brown pants flying over the 1 ‘ rolling waves that were spaced 1’ apart...felt like I was going a million miles an hour but only 31+ kts...

The gusts were pretty over the top by now so I decided to call it quits and had a nice hary ride in through the chop..

Everyone else arriving now and the rain had gone ..it seemed to die for a while and I was almost tempted to go back out but figured I’d survived in one piece and it was only going to get stronger so I’d quit while I was ahead...

Me out first then Andrew, Lyds, after I came in Steve W and Byron launched from Brandon. Milsy , Frothie , Tibor and Hugh putting in as I left.

If only it were flat! Pb weather...

36 of the scariest knots I ever hope to see. 25-35 knot S-SW. I was jumping off at most gybes & waiting for the 25 bits to go downwind.  Very rough for Budgie, very gusty wind but at least the parking was easy today. Not that many out, I was alone for half an hour while Byron & Steve were changing boards. They & Hugh were killing it though I did see Byron fall a couple of time which is rare.CASP44, 5.6, 23fin

Maui S2 6.3 and then 5.7 at the end of day. CA44, CA 50 thanks Greg, exxocet RS2.

top speed on the slalom board with BP 40 deg 28 weed speed flet great.

amazing how much you can hold a 6.3 in .

It was so chopy and scary doing the speed runs to the point having some width ended up being quicker wich is a good speed out of the slalom board.

Hugh and Walshy were killing it I was just lucky in the end to line a big gust up. Hugh looked so much more in control and walshy was smoking like normal.

I gave one of my GPS to new sailor Brent who has purchased Steves formula and my old 6.6 maui yep thats right 6.6m and 100l RS3 exocet and first time using GPS and sailing budgu cracked 37. It impressed the shit out of me and Steve epestialy he weighs less than me.

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU - F2017 6.3m, IS70.  Was feeling good until I had the biggest crash I've had in years at top speed going deep.  Cut my session short. 5.7m would have been great to try out as it was kicking 35 knots.

Great sailing with everyone today. Well done to everyone sailing fast in those conditions.  Took balls today!

Well done on the speed Andrew. It's pretty tough sailing for speed in the chop. Fairly similar conditions here too with too much water in the lake.

Brent very impresive as he hasnt sailed a windsurfer for many years. Talk about no fear this was his first sail on a slalom board must have been my old 6.6m maui LOL.

welcome mate first of many sails to come.
