I don't usually use the big gear at Peely as its too slow but I decided to take the easy road as it was only 10-15kts when I went out. Spent a bit of time fiddling with the 7.8m and found a spacer on the boom cam that I could remove ( I thought I'd taken them out of all my sails).
Much better! It rotates better..still needs to pop after but much easier and doesn't take much to get it to. ..Checked the 7m but all out with it and it doesn't rotate as easily as I'd like. May have to fiddle with other settings on it.
I've never had a big enough fin for the 7.8m so I test drove one of Gareths new delta Xt in a larger size ( usually use a standard 20 cm delta..which I will now be selling).
The extra 2cm and design made a big difference . I could pressure the fin and sail normally. It only spun out a few times when an overpowering gust came through and it handled the small chop fine.
I loved it but my ankle didn't and it was really painful when I came in . I could hardly walk for stabbing pains. Luckily it settled down later. I wish it would hurry up and get well as it's almost 11months now..
I could have changed down to the smaller kit earlier but I wanted to go for an hour. Getting pretty tired by the end .Only dropped 1 gybe all session so happy with that especially with the big sail.
Went in and set up the smaller gear but of course it was mainly over by then.I was the only one out..
Nice to have a solid session where I planed 99% of the time. I've had some crappy ones lately! Boardshorts weather too.
I've had a hell of a job putting this boom on since I bought it . Great boom but a pain to set up..the others told me to turn it upside down to fix it so it will be great if that fixes it!
Mick & Frothie early then Milsy , Wayne , Pete , Pugs , Stan ..
