Liptons is DeadYell  There is a massive exposed weed patch blocking Liptons, its killed the place.  That leaves Point Grey which was offshore, gusty and lighter.  WTF am O gonna do, was looking forward all winter and Spring to sailing Liptons, and its FarkedYell Very annoyed, and not the mst enjoyable wsurf.  First World Rant Over!!  I'm alive, I had  A WINDSURF, get over myselfEmbarassed

Well that was an interesting session, talk about getting the gust of the day at exactly the right time!

On my way to Fangys, toby texted me saying no wind there, but I wasn't deterred it was honking here on the ocean. When I arrived the wind had started fairly light, so I hurried to rig the 6.2 koncept and plugged it into the 65cm board with giant deltoid. I wanted to see how shifting the footstraps further forward, compensated for the fin centre of effort being forward. Took me a while to get dialed in, with the wind picking up all the time. I think the forward straps are better, but it's not perfect, I was still struggling for directional control. So changed down to the 48cm board with filleted 20cm 55d weedy.

This felt heaps better, and speed jumped from 30 to 32 kts, decided to check the outside bank. Wind kept increasing as I headed upwind. Looking at my track, I should have done one more tack, but the run looked close enough to go for it. But it was an upwind run to the start, and it's part of the NM.

fangys NM 21 november

All the same it's my 4th best ever, so I shouldn't complain too much.

You can see the run underneath has a better line, but the wind had dropped by the time Toby and I had got back there, and that run was only a 28.

But it was a great session, I was joined by Toby, Slugger, Pepe, Pas, Basil, Swindy, and Fangy can down for a post sail chat.

    The fangy weedfarm,...

With all the "wildlife" , and enough wind for a nice day out. Was trimming the weed back on the bank when I heard the weedfin complaining

that the gravel field wes getting too close....  buy the time I had managed to step off "gracefull like", the water was only jusy over ankle depth.!!

But no ingury. I wasnt going very fast.?!

Had the Old slalom52, ka con 5.8, and My weed55  17 no 16cm now....   Tongue out      Cool  .

 Nice day out

Coodanup, WA, AU  Pat 92 SL, KAR 7.1, FANGY FIN 20

Mission, to try out the new shiny and very quickly finished (couldnt resist) Fangy fin. Got there and all the usual suspects were out. Riged the 7.1 knowing it would be well powered to overpowered but I wanted to push the fin to its limits and Hadnt used the sail in that strength either yet. First few runs couldnt get comfy so a few stops to adjust sail and lines sorted that out. Sailing out to the creery end I was confronted by masses of weed and dubiously headed into it. Hardly felt a thing just a slight forward pull and slowing of the board which then maintained a reasonable constant speed. This gave me the confidence to not ease up through anything. Once i was up in all the good stuff the wind dropped a bit so more adjustments. Slugger came overr and joined me and we headed up to boundry island. All the time confidenc was building in the fin, I found that through the flat and small chop I could push on it as hard as i liked and it wouldnt let go at all and in the bigger chop had to be a bit gentle on it but thats a small fin for a 7.1 and 93kg pushing on it.

Came in with the bigest grin after a fangtastic time on the water.

I enjoyed the all the fun and games of an exam this arvo, and I got down to Fangyland just in time to see Basil perform a top scoring rapid deceleration with dismount. Always more enjoyable when they happen to someone else. ( quietly relieved to see Basil get up again tho).

Speaking of disconnected limbs, Wazza I think you have overcooked it and you have done too much sailing now. The rule is no more sailing sessions in any calendar year than you can count fingers on one hand.  And Hardquiz, swap ya a shitty sail for an exam if you want Laughing

Woohoo Toby, three PB session! That's an awesome way to christen your new fin. Thanks for the kind words about the fin but I suspect it has a lot more to do with the skill of the sailor. Stoked for ya mate. ( and Bon Voyage too)

And Cap'n Calm, what an epic speed run. Very noice mate and a top shelf nauti to go with it. Smile on dial big time Cool

Yep, 3 PBs to speed you on the way Toby, nice send off, enjoy your Winter ski-ing, see you next year.

And Hardie, remember when we first started sailing Liptons it was when alpha land was too deep. Today was a fairly low tide, liptons should be much better on a high tide, with most of the weed under water.

And I suggest you treat yourself to a Xmas present, buy yourself a few Fangy fins, they cope with both weedy and light to moderate choppy conditions.
