Chris Dimond (12355km): Lake George, SA, AU First day trip of the season. On the road at 5am, caught up with Des and Adam at Kingston, then out to the spit. Couple of kiteboarders there, and also great to meet Andy and Jill (windsurfinggear.com.au). Forecast was only light (around 20 knots), but from the beginning it looked windy. Rigged 7.0R7 on iS97 with 33TribalWS and was totally overcooked. Back in and change to 27TribalWS with more downhaul. Still too much. Changed down to 6.2R7 on iS87 with 23TribalWS and off we go!! The water level is still pretty high, so most of the lake is choppy. I sailed from the spit up to the 5 mile, then up to the 3 mile, looking for flat water. Nuthin! The flattest patch was about the size of a bowling green just out from the Spit, but it was a total white out with foam, so it was often hard to find. A couple of squirts, and nice to see a 40 again on the lake. It really is my favourite place!! | ||||||||||||||||||
Kimba (8089km): Quick arvo session down at Goolwa with the family in tow and the first for 2019. First time on the Isonic 114(76 wide,2016) and it felt great straight off the bat; it fills the gap nicely between my 68cm and 83 cm boards as well as sails from 7-8.6m. The flat tail really allowed the fin to dictate the angle of attack and it felt nice and efficient. Gybing will take a bit more work as I am used to longer boards and the deck depression caused a few surprises. I rigged the 6.9 as it was supposed to fill in but was a bit underdone in the end but had fun in the Goolwa chop dodging jet ski's. Great to see about 10 sailors out. Hamma (12038km): Stansbury, FF 85 / M 47, EVO 9 5.6,20cm vector / 16cm Was in Edithburgh fishing for a few days and lucky I through a couple boards in.Thought I would rig the 5.6 as 20cm weed fin was my biggest for my slalom board and was just to small. Then I smashed in on the razor fish. So then went out on the M 47 with a 16cm. Had some fun runs but just wasn't enough wind to get lit. Going to order some weed fins ! Was great to catch up with the bogans. |
