A PB for me, super happy. Below are some notes mainly for my use, but might help anyone trying this spot. Nelson Haven, New Zealand.

Wind was solid! a good 30 - 40knots NNW. It was hard to rig up, it was hard sailing and being able to hold down the power from the sail, it was hard packing up!

It was all about speed today but I was concerned about the 0.7m low tide. I hugged the main bank to avoid hitting various submerged sandbanks near by.This worked well, speed run on Port and stopped before running a ground at the eastern end. Then pinched up wind on Starboard where I would stop and jump off (depth often over head) but would then drift down wind a few meters until I could stand on the middle sand bank.  This had the benefit of lanching on a reach and not strait in to a broad reach as it would have been the case if I started on the main bank.

Found sailing 0.7m tide really good as there was little chop, there was certainly more chop once the tide started coming in and tide level was approx 1.2m. The course was tight and I was getting pulled onto my toes when the big gusts came through, but after a few runs I tried to bear off into a slingshot when they hit and this worked well, they were very short slingshot runs as the channel is so narrow. I was getting faster and faster but evetually my body gave in and I had to drift back downwind to the launch site as had nothing left in the tank to sail back.  What a great day!

Ka Koncept 5.4, Isonic W49, C3 Venom 24. GW52.

Boom 170cm, sail just not quite touching the boom. Boom height approx 1cm below middle setting. 30cm harness lines 3.5marks and 7 marks. Waist Harness. Downhaul 4cm extention setting and just over a large finger gap between sail pulley and extention, then added more so there was only a 'little' finger gap.Mast base towards back so plate was just covering the mast track entrance.

NOTE TO SELF (edited 31 Oct) - downhaul used for this PB was based on prevous PB in light winds. I should try extention on 6 next time when it is so windy.

Nice session Stephen. You're getting more action than anybody down here in Canterbury.
