Murray Towndrow (8653km): Valentine, NSW, AU Heat 2 GPS/Slalom series Difficult day for racing with wind all over the shop direction and strength wise, started west and end up with a SE. Think we made the most of what we were given! 8.4 then 7.7 (most) on 136 with 44z
James Farley (12722km): Valentine, NSW, AU Exocet RS6, TR8 7.6, Vmax 51 Heat 2 NSW GPS/Slalom series. Great to see a big turnout at Valentine today and catch up with everyone. Pretty patchy and gusty initially but once it swung SE it was awesome. Had some great runs back and forth across the lake during the 30 min freerace. Big board and fin were getting to be a handful at the end. Thanks to Muz and Byron for all their work making these events happen.

sboardcrazy (25098km): 0-20kts WSW - SSE Valentine, NSW, AU 6.2m OD - RS4 ( 111ltres) - 36 cm drake pointer and 6.2m OD - RS2 ( 90ltre) - 33cm makani weedy One run 7.5m GT Turbo - 39cm C3 sting pointer Got there early in the hope of catching the stronger wind. It was very patchy but blowing 20-25kts in the gusts so I rigged a big board and small sail. By the time I hit the water it had backed off a bit but I still wouldn't have wanted a bigger sail in the gusts. Hard work. Hanging on in the gusts then nothing and falling off in the cross slop. I got one lovely patch over near Bolton where the water was flatter and the wind strong and got the 2 sec there on the big board. It seemd to be coming in although still WSW so i decided to try the 90ltre. Sucked out and it just died. I knew I'd be in trouble if I fell in so I was aiming to go to Bolton to stop and turn the board around. I didn't get there as the wind headed me and dropped out and in I went. It took a while but i surprsied myself by being able to waterstart and got an ok gust in. Too much like hard work so I let the others do their thing while I waited for it to swing more SSW. I got sucked out another time on the smaller gear and got a lovely run to Bolton but once again it switched off and I only just got back. I watched the others and took some photos until later in the afternoon when it swung and seemed to fillin a bit more. I rigged the big kit but it was now SSE and a bit sheltered to get out and it was too tiring out the other side. It was at the top end of that gear and I was just too tired. Decided to risk it on the smaller gear thinking I'd get stuck out there but it had picked up a lot and I would have liked a bit less speed at times. The yachts were racing so it was also pretty lumpy at times. I decided to quit while I was ahead.. It started out a 1/10 Valentine day and probably a 5/10 at the end . I did get a few nice runs though.. It would have been perfect for the Windtech on the other side at the end but it was too sheltered to risk going out. Plenty of people with the GPS event. You can see how much the wind swung by the tracks! I'll post some pics of the competitors when I get a chance to edit them.
Tibor (18017km): Valentine, NSW, AU Quite a day!...Strong SW most of the time. We had a go at 5x half an hour lots as usual but cancelled out 3 of them. I couldnt quite see what was going on so i thought i`d better finish the half hour. As it went i did 5x half an hour consecvently, i have a very tired back as a lot of the time it was blowing well. I used my new little foilglide 6m and found it just right. Seemed to have learned quite a bit about foiling in stronger breezes so it was worth all the hard work! Thanks to the organizers and coworkers!
Ian Wright (16360km): Valentine, NSW, AU Round 2 of the NSW GPS/Slalom Series. Many thanks to the Organising Commitee , Greg in the boat and fellow Competitors for making this happen. Wind pretty well did what Meteye forecast. Starting with a gusty 5-15+ knot S/W, finishing similar strength S/E, Tracks show the story well. Isonic 117, Vmax 41 and Loft Switchblade 7.8, which ended up being a good combo for the gusty ,shifty, yacht chop and bumpy conditions. The S/W teased us into starting 2, 30 min GPS but just as it looked good it dropped off just as quick. As the wind turned south it became more consistent and we had the opportunity to finish the next 2 30 min sessions. Great day of sailing with a great group guys and gals. Myall Lakes in a few weeks . Can't wait, see you there.
