Sellicks Bogan (7276km): Well the day started early, 3.15am rise on the road by 10 to 4... then the slog to LG, met Sam and Pete at Kingston then on to a very non windy lake. It picked up as the day went on but didnt really have the guts in it I would have liked. started on the 122isonic with 7.8 R8 with the 22 carbon MUF 50, then went up a little bigger to the 24 BP kestrel due to a few spinouts and lack of upwind action. after about 90 K's went onto the 96 Isonic with the 6.2 R8 and 18 MUF. should have really rigged the 7 mtr, but thems the breaks great day in all, now sitting in Ballarat uploading.. what a long day. great to sail with the bogan gang and a few interstaters.
Captain bogan (50760km): Lake George, SA, AU - 15 to 20. Fun day with a decent crew of Bogans and other interstaters - great to catch up with some old and new faces. Not the forecast that was good all week and dropped last minute but wanted to take the ss for a cruise to the Golden lake so went anyway. Up at 4.30 on the road just after 5 and arrived to a windless lake just before 9.30. After a bit of a wait the wind picked up and Daishy and Sam went out in big gear. I don't have a big weedy for big board so only had Patrik 87 or 45 speed board. Yetti was nice enough to lend me his isonic 96 and used the gun 29 weedy and 7m - cheers mate worked a treat till soon time to change to 6.3 and 87. Not fully loaded but enough to cruise around and have fun. At about 5pm i had enough and thought i would leave instead of staying the night and started to de-rig to find my mast was jammed stuck together. Daishy and Sam to eager to head out left me with my jammed mast. Packed the car and luckily Daffy and couple of others came into shore so got them to give me hand. Cheers Daffy - great advice and how to unjam it and others for helping. By this time it was after 7pm so decided to stay and pray for wind tomorrow... even though the forecast has died back too.... Isonic 96 / Patrik 87/ 7m and 6.3 ka race 2020 / Gun sails 29cm weedy / 25cm Vector weed speed.
Sammy (43276km): Massive 1 day road trip with Daishy. Left home at 4am got home at 12:30 am.
Had such a great time on the super smooth glass up the top with some Awesome cross wind sailing and synchronized gybes with Pete in absolute glass. To do planning and powered gybes in glass and just power out without even a ripple needs to be experienced and cannot be explained.
Cheers for the lend of the fin Cracken Bogan as it really made for a great day. No big numbers but just plain old fun.
