Choco (14568km): Swirly gusty wind could'nt really get comfortable come in and changed to a 33cm fin and instantly everything felt great, blasting through the chop was great fun having full control. Lake Bonney gusts 28 knots FF114 -36cm/33cm 6.4m
Peter Daish (26108km): Goolwa South, SA, AU 113L/7.8L MAch1, 34 vector speed. beautiful rig up, easy launch, absolutely shit in water , gusty choppy shit. good training I guess
Trousers (14352km): Bog SA, what you'd expect from a westerly. Some strong gusts , some lulls. I rigged 6.2, and sailed it on the i97 at first with a BPR 325 then went to a Sabre 325. Not much flatness to be found, just blasted around with the lads, slugged a little but was planing for the majority of my day. Was a good blazt.
Retired Bogan (6747km): Boggy, typical westerly, gusty, like a washing machine, pretty rough, 13k felt like 113, not that I would know what that feels like. Good turnout. 5.5 Ezzy Cheetah on 85L Goya, handles the chop well.
Unknown Location Bogan (11341km): Boggy Lake, SA, AU. Typical westerly. It was party time !. Thanks Geoff for talking me into staying. https://www.ka72.com/Track/t/429052 Me and Joe B have been playing with masts. Call it, at the time of our sailing experience where we start to do that. I've fine tuned some of my ... hmmm recalcitrant? sails by turning my CC masts into CC/flex top with an 30cm extender. Results have been impressive. The Cheetah 5.5 is speced to take a 430/21. But I run it with a 400/19 and the extender. Perfect. Doesn't make me any faster but sh!tloads more wind range and stable. I would've had the KA race sail out today, but Joe is borrowing the mast. Oh, and here is a piccy of Leon and co. "SMILE !"
Nice to see Leo, Sam S, Leon, Phil, Chris D and Trousers again :)
Canadian Casey (2167km): Quick day trip to Lake George with Carl, the wind didn't seem as big as forecasted but still pleng there. SW Rigged the 5.8m simmer, 94l isonoic and 18cm xt-50 walked through some thick stinky mud cut a few runs hit a 35knot peak then decided to come back in for the 79L board. It was tough going tacking back to the car a few wind shadows and the thick mud to walk back through. Decided to derig and drive around to packhams. Headed back out on the 79L to meet up with Carl. Wind was up and down sometimes really powered up other times stopping. No really good flat water for speed and the weed beds were causing me to slow down or spin out. Was still good fun having big long runs through the middle of the lake in the chop.
Captain bogan (50569km): Lake George, SA, AU - 18 to 23 with a couple of stronger gusts. Another day roadie with Casey - great fun and cheers for the trip. Since Thursday i have travelled 1600 km's to the Golden lake and sailed over 200 k's - Life is good. Awake at 3.40 by a rain storm Casey was to pick me up after 5 i wasted time waiting couldn't sleep again. On the road about 5.30 and after a shit break at the truck stop on the freeway - dropped my phone in the chemical toilet luckily had the flip stopper so phone just needed a discinfect and all okay . Back on the road dropped in to Kingston for the usual bacon and egg subway and arrived at 5 mile at about 10ish. No real wind so did the usual and rigged up 5.6 and 5.8 with small slaloms hoping the wind woud kick. Spoke to Beachport bogan and he advised we should be at Packham but already rigged so we headed out. Headed out past the weather station and started a one hour. Hard work with the gusty conditions but managed to do okay. The delta 16 XT-50 did well but a little slippery in the choppy conditions for LG and surprising with the lack of solid wind we are use too. When i completed the one hour i couldn't see Casey's car and thought he had left me and gone home. Not long after saw his sail and headed into Packham - Casey's packham is further down lol. With no weight or water pack today i managed to get hold of a gust on the way in and saw 38.11 on the screen - pretty happy for a light weight. Found out caddy Casey did the move and packed up and brought the car down to make it easier - what a legend. Headed out for another hour with water pack on and had a few squirts near the spit - geez the weed is thick and dying was grabbing the fin - even pulled me up a couple of times. Still alot of fun in the glass cruising and gybing. Unless a big forecast maybe one of the last sessions till next season - we say that every year lol. Has been the longest and best season i have had at LG sailing every month many times - love the place. Patrik 87 / 5.6m gun sails GSR / Delta XT-50 16cm.
