First NE of the season.. Rigged the freeride sail with the plan to change to the waveboard if / when it came in.. First 3/4hr I was underpowered and only got going in the strongest gusts but then it kicked in a notch and was great..
I thought a NE would be a snack after sailing Westerlies.. in many ways it was but it's still a bit scary when you're over at Carey well powered , the wind racks up another 5kts and you head home bearing away down the chop..
First consistently powered sail I've had on the WT64..boy it's easy to get upwind when the wind is consistent. Had some magic fully powered runs down from Carey down past Coal skipping over the top of the chop.. Nm Board PB..
A great run towards Green Point..I had to go below a few yachts that were coming towards me ..I passed about 30m below and got carried away and said hello and waved.. then fell in as the wind shadow got me.. Dur I'm usually pretty good at handling them but I clear forgot..
Came in and got the waveboard. I should have put a larger centre fin in but I was too lazy. It went well, I just had to remember to not put any pressure on the back foot.
I quit a bit earlier than usual as I'd been on a bushwalk in the am so I was a bit tired..
Nice to see so many slalom / fin boards out..I'd forgotten how fast and impressive the good guys are , jaw droppingly good..
Byron ( foil at first then fin), Andrew , Lajos , Gert , Hugh on fins and Aiden on the windwing ( and later fin?) John on the foil plus a few others..
I'm looking forward to some more consistent wind so I can start finetuning my gybes..
I went home sold my 87ltre Isonic and bought a WT57 - 90ltres ( which should be unreal on days like today!)
