Melville Beach, WA, AU  Motivated by Woody's recent Alpha I made up some alpha markers and a 50m string as I have no sense of distance when out on the water.  Had a good physio session with knee feeling good and with the wind forecast better than yesterday, strapped the markers on the mast and headed out.  Placed them in line with the wind and waited for the wind.  Eventually it picked up a bit but usually only for one leg and then was a slog to get back and then head up wind to get ready for the next attempt.    Really hard to see them looking into the sun but just fine with the sun behind you.  Of course you need to be able to see them both directions to be much use.  Sometimes could see one but not the other and since I made them the same no clue which was the upwind one so need to make them different next time. Speed never consistent so couldn't do the count trick but relied on judging distane by looking at the receeding markers.  Ricey joined me and then the wind died right off.  I think I managed only one gybe that was almost planning so my first alpha session wasn't really that successful but pleasant enough and a different way to enjoy the water.  120 Tabou Rocket, 7.8 Severne M2, 33 Choco weed

What a fun session with Waricle, Morts, Dr Cam, Decrepit, Reg and Elmo who came out as I went in. 15-20 knots at best just having a blast.

Tried a squarish naughtical mile from kiters end to post in channel. Good fun. Played backup to Reg in distance today. And got some nice footage of Dr Cam Manta 66 Evo12 7.4 CLDelta 22

A long but enjoyable day at the office with Woody Mark, Hardie, Decrepit and Dr Cam from Cairns and.......sailors who were just going too fast for me to recognise.  A nice high tide, not a lot of wind so I rigged the 7.0 Mach3 and took the iSonic 90 out and Decrepit lent me one of his very special weed fins, complete with stainless steel leading edge.  The weed dare not argue with a man with a stainless steel weed fin....thanks Mike.  I was very happy with my distance today.  Not sure happy is quite theb right word but pleased maybe cuz my hands hurt.

Distance PB's are a relative pleasure down here with the lovely flat water.  Just pop in for a coffee occasionally and visit the hospital afterwards!!Wink
