Rakaia Huts ..Met was promising southerly around 18 knots for an hour or two mid afternoon, and I began to imagine flying down the backside of that shingle bank between the lagoon and the sea. So I went to have a look ..but it definitely wasn't true south! ..was more like 210 degrees and never got strong enough to get in my foot straps - tried for quite a while. ..Started raining and the air temperature really dropping as I was packing my gear away, and of course then some wind also arrived. ..Interesting place though - first time I've been there.
