20-30kts plus SW Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU- level 0.27 - 0.32

5.5m Mach2 - 80 iso- 16.5cm FF ( cutdown 22)

 then 4.6m KA koncept - 70ltre ( 48 wide) patrick - 16cm tribal

 14 degrees + windchill

What a buzz!

I was very unenthused on the way down and could easily have gone home. I was worried about it being too strong plus freezing cold..Glad I went out!

No great stats but I had a ball trying. I haven't yodelled ( half exhilaration half fear ..Laughing ) that often and long for a hell of a long time..Tongue outTongue out

It looked about 20kts but with big winds forecast  I rigged what I thought was conservatively with the 5.5m. I got over there and realised I was VERY powered up..I only tried 2 gybes so I'm happy with the alpha. I could have borne off a bit on the exit and improved it..Undecided

Some well powered bearaways . I got the 2 sec on this combo when it was flatter. After a while it kicked in 28- 30kts plus and was really hary..I risked a few bearaways then decided to go in. It was well over the top by now so I figured I'd wait for a lull and go out into the chop above the point and go as far as I dared then float in.

Had a hell of a ride in some big wind and chop before I pulled out and dropped in. I'd rugged up well and been too hot and taken my hood off but sitting in the icey water as I drifted in I could feel the heat being drawn out of me and I put it back on..I was glad I was at Buff when the big stuff hit and not in the middle of Lake Macquarie Surprised

Lunch plus rerigged the smaller gear. Cripes! It's been a long time since I've been really overpowered on that combo. I haven't been so powered on a bearaway for ages..at times I felt like I wasn't even touching the water ( bit scary at times). No great speeds as I couldn't find anywhere flat enough. I felt like I was doing 37kts but only 32/31.. Hell of a lot of fun though.

I thought the FF was a bit of a worry tugging occasionally as I went through the thicker seagrass bergs but it was better than the Tribal.. Brown pants at times flying at warpspeed ( for me) through the weedbeds and hoping like hell I kept going when I hit them..

My arms were starting to wear out and the rain was hurting my face so i decided to call it a day.

I'll have to suss out some flatwater then it will be epic! Tongue out

Byron , and another guy ( sorry I didn't ask your name), Bill Justin then lots - Mark & Maree had a short go but withdrew for health reasons. Sorry I can't think of everyone I was too busy sailing to look.

great day just not windy enough doing speed runs off the breeze and had to go looking for flat water but so nice jybing when its flat. Had some smoking jybes very high but must have been outside the 50 for sure.

have not done this many KM in a long time my back and shoulders are so sore time for home brew and spa.

at least I got a few 40s on the dial been lake George since that has happened.

Late decision to go to Budgy today. Probably 15-20+ knots S/W. Bad angle for Marmong/Teralba , so ended up a good decision.

Falcon 51 Speed , Severne 5.7 R8 Overdrive , Techtonics 17. Resonably happy with speed ,but the weed bergs I couldn't see that were

tugging on the fin gave me a few OH SHIT moments , this resulted in a more cautious approachEmbarassed. (Might hang on to those oldschool MUF deltas).

Anyway good to get back on the speed gear for a change. Only Byron , Greg and I out late in the day.
