Egg Island, Cape Cod. Wind dropped just as we got to the flats, but still fun. 5.5, RRD 60.

Kalmus and Egg Island, Cape Cod. Rigged to 28 mph averages on the iWindsurf meter, but it dropped to 23 as soon as I hit the water. When it picked up again to 25, went over to Egg Island with Jon for some flat water fun, but got only one powered run before the wind dropped to 22. Needed big gusts to get going, and the way back to the launch was mostly slogging. Guess I should have listened to Jon and gone for a dawn patrol session, since the wind looked strong and steady until 10:30. But they just started locking the gates to the parking lot again until 9 am, so it would have been a pointless to arrive earlier.

Funny to see that I got a better top speed today on the freestyle board and a 5.5 freeride sail than yesterday on a 3-cam 7.8 and a slalom board. But wind direction and tide yesterday meant that neither Egg Island nor Kennedy Slicks worked, which probably made a bigger difference that a few knots less wind.

Thanks Kipps, it was choppy nautical. To get 30s, need to sail more often.

Al, choppy is our bread and butter at Coyote, as you no doubt may remember…

Yes, I remember and I enjoyed it. However, our chops a little bit different when they come from the boats, not the wind.
