5-8kts NW then 12-18kts plus WNW over near Wangi - Coal Point, NSW, AU

12-18 degrees c 30-60cm chop , moguls at times

7.5m Turbo- WT64 ( 112ltres) - 35cm tectonics weed demon

I wanted to catch the end of the westerly so I got there early. It was very light but I figured maybe that was all I was going to get.  I rugged right up and then ended up boiling and having to drop in to cool off.

I wanted to work on my gybes and try and fix some bad habits. I didn't have enough wind to get as upwind as I wanted ( 5kts max speed). Happy with the subplaning ones , tried a few things.

After 1 hr ( when I was pretty tired as usual Undecided ) it turned and got pretty consistent over near Wangi. I didn't really enjoy it as  I would have been more comfy on the 7m- 90ltre and  I was worried it would kick in to 20kts plus and I'd have a survival sail back to Coal.

I thought about switching down but I didn't know if it would die and it was a 1km buggerall wind plod to get over from Coal. I eventually came in for a bite and put more tailflex on to make the ride spongier in the bumps . I relaxed then and started to enjoy it.

I was still trying to work on my gybes but I found the big kit very heavy and tiring and didn't really have the energy to do what I knew I needed to..Still I'm happy over 2hrs sailing and I didn't drop one..Smile

I had a rest at Wangi and got caught up in fishing line. It looked like it had been there for a long time as there was weed growing along the whole length.

Next time it's like that I might try a launch from Wangi caravan park.

Just me , a few yachts , a moth , dinghy , laser  and a few bigger cruisers but pretty quiet for a Sunday on the lake.

In retrospect that was very satisfying..Cool.. at the time it was hardwork..Wink

You have great passion for windsurfing Sue,

With all these top windfoil riders around you it must be time to join them, I'm sure they can get you up and soaring in no time and they might even have some learner gear they can share with youCool

It was a lovely relaxed sunny day compared to yesterday. I was looking at the webcam on Coal yesterday and the lake looked enormous! Even looking at the back of the waves it was just whitewater.. Surprised

Give me today any time..Smile
