Better than forecast for a change, or was it because I was using the 6.2 instead of the 5.7?

Wind wasn't forecast to be as strong as yesterday, had 17kts ave and 20kt gusts, so went with the 6.2, 55cm board and 20cm deltoid.

Got one great gust that lined up with the smooth stuff, rest of the time I couldn't get out of the 33s. But I'm happy with only the one 35, I think it's my fastest this year. (yep just checked, I finaly got out of the 35.2s, thought I was stuck there for ever)

Very unusualto be the first one there for a change, but Fire turned up to keep me company, without any gear, then hardie arrived as I'd finished rigging, and waricle arrived at Pt Grey, as I decided to give up and go in.

So here's colouring in, looks very similar to yesterday

Fangyland with Renee, Pas, and Iain.  Rigged up the Avalon 7.0 and immediately got blown off the water. In a very rare moment for me, I came and took the time to change down to the Avalon 6.3. That was much better so I continued with my experiments trying to get the WT Cruise to plane sooner with my weight  of momentum muscle on board.

I had moved everything forward to try and enlist a bit more bottom surface at a lower angle of attack. I am not sure it helped at all and certainly once I was planing the board felt diabolical, bobbing around like a top on its rocker with no ability to really load up the fin. I brought the mast foot aft and that helped a bit, but tomorrow’s job is to take the footsteps back again.

I want to say it felt like a bit of a waste of today’s nice bit of breeze, but at least I learnt something and I am sure it was still better than not sailing at all.

     fangyland,  coodanup,  AU,,,

O my,, there was wind, there was  smooth-ish wet stuf, a good board, the same sail as yesterday,,,  so, what went wrong???

Well powerd up and felt a lot faster than yesters,  but the numbers are so similar.   Maybe  it was the fangmans weed curse,??Surprised

others went better, way better, and in the same soop,,,,

Bord was, old wt 52 wide,  sail ka kon5.8,  fin El53/22cm weedy.   Laughing

I think its been a while since I got a PB so I'll enjoy that one. I figured there wasn't going to be a NM of weed at Coods for much longer as it gets blown onto the bank.

Fangy, I put the mast well forward on the WT57 last year as an experiment and when I beared off in the smooth it went into some sort of weird cyclic bobbing motion so I pulled the mast al the way back and it went away.

Anita, I kept right on the edge of the weed as it's real thick. Toward the end of rhe NM I had to round up a bit which was hard on the noodle arms .
