dr cam (41674km): Final session on Green Island for the 3 day break .(morning session -outgoing tide ) Squally gusty SE-ESE-SSE ,horrendous chop ,lots of "i'm gonna die" moments today ... Wind was 20-34 knots so tried a range of gear again . Started on the FMX racing 61 w ,tsw 27 ,Evo 11 5.6 which worked well early in the session when the tide was still high . As the water retreated I switched to the FF speed 52.5 tsw 23 & Evo 12 6.6 & immediately gained 2 knots of speed. Speed run today was essentially South to North & ended in the channel chop on the Nprth side of the island . Fitness gradually improving ... Knees ,ankles ,head all took a beating today but definitely worth it ..!!
Trojan (8394km): Mackay, QLD, AU Last day where the wind, tide and sunshine lined up, so split my shift at work for a quick late morning sail with Phil. A lot of South, so wind line was out wide, but gradually filled in to be powered up nicely on the big gear. Definitely worth it, although sailing fitness suffering after 7 weeks recovery from busted rib. Windtech SB72, 7.5 Ezzy, 42 Tribal
Sailpilot (8104km): Nice sail with Troy skipping work to come pla. Was getting flatter towards the end bit still too bumpy onthe bear ofs to get a good speed. KA RAce 7.1, Patrik 115,tribal 40
Eddy (24342km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU..Sun wasn't shining but the wind was blowing.. Very gusty and changing direction all the time..Was a bit hard to know what to rig on arvo's like this was keen to rig my usual burnt out 7m but last time i did that when the wind was very gusty i got a bit 'beaten up'in the big gust..Decided to rig fully pumped 6.5m turbo on 105 Fox 38cm fin..Just managed to to get a good chop hopping session in a very confused sea and breeze going from around 15kts to well over20 kts so it was a bit hard to stay totaly dialed in the whole session..Sailed with Rick and a visitor from melbourne not sure who he was as he went home early but he seemed fast..Rick had a good blast on small gear and i couldn't catch him a couple of times when he was fully lit up..But he went home early as well.. But he sailed well and was happy with his session..I new i wouldn't get any good numbers on the score board so tried to clock up a few kms just to make it worth rigging up for..All good fun..Cheers Ed..
Alvadave (7039km): Burrum Heads, QLD, Australia Fanatic 94 Jag, 6.4 Patrik Race+, 29 Weedspeed Got the old Gw60 to work although it turned itself off a couple of times and the band broke again. Pretty good day, wind was a bit up and down but I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Still pretty good when we came in but I ran out of gas. Don't think we've got the Patrik sails sorted yet but they feel pretty good. Out with Merena, Geoff and Mark Jordan.
