high-water high-chop day at Haskins. solid 25kts when rigging dropped a lot as i hit the water, so ended up gust-hunting downwind.

was about to rig up but lucky for me, another set of 25+ gusts blew thru to save the day. not sure i made the most of them as the high water and my downwind position meant far more chop than i would have wanted. indeed, there were a couple of "moments" there.

but in the end, tied my best session of the year, got a 250m PB by a hair, and a 500m PB (3x) by quite some margin – not that those matter here anyway Undecided

I’ve got number of 24, 25 Alphas on the COROS watch, however it is posted 22,23 on gps-Speedsurfing. Need to find out what am I doing wrong. Trying my best to do gps turns.

Al, i have it from other users of the COROS that the alphas are generally quite a way off vs. what gets validated on software analysis programs. on the GW-60 the problem seems to be the opposite, at least for me: it pickus up very few alphas, and will most often under-report speeds.

bottom line, i have personally never trusted any device to give me a reliable alpha reading. i suspect there are some elaborate computations taking place with relatively limited "horsepower" on a "watch" device. in fact, i do wonder how the code describes an alpha for computational purposes, given that in plain english an alpha seems to be not the easiest concept to grasp for the average windsurfer.
