Slowboat (49791km):
756 days ago Cervantes:
Woke up in Leeman, and was going to sail at Little Anchorage again because it has some potential for mad speed runs through moderate chop (I did a few yesterday without GPS but they were properly wound). Got a call from Claude who was in Cervantes saying there was an awesome 1km+ speed run that had appeared, so I conned Craig Hollins into joining me. We got there and it was ummm, not so great in the seabreeze. Claude was talking about when it was SE before the seabreeze took over... DOH. It looked like it was going to be windy so I rigged 6.3m on the 102 Tribal with 32cm MK2 carbon fin. That felt great yesterday so I wanted to do some more runs on it. Sadly behind the sand there wasn't a lot of wind. It was much better out near the reef so ended up sending it out there through the chop. That was a hoot! After a bunch of runs I was done. Not epic speeds for the wind, but for the chop was OK.
some driving happened... and then-
Melville: drove in for a look just after 5pm and it looked OK! So I rigged 7.9m on the 118 and 33wsp. First run out was the same speed as my best run at Cervantes but with a bit less wind... Water was flatter though! Kept going for some more runs as the wind faded. Only did 5 runs and went home.
Considering totally different gear and location on the same day, best speeds were almost identical! Crazy
So I combined the runs...
