A short dip my toe in to see if my body could handle sailing.
I've been sailing with a splint which allows me to sail with the dodgy wrist but restricts my grip a bit. Last sail at Budgy the rig ripped my straight arm back further than it should go and I felt muscles rip. Funnily enough I managed the rest of the session with no issues. It was only a few weeks later I slept on it too long and it hurt like hell.
Xrays and ultrasound showed a fractured rib plus bruised and torn muscles. So.. 5 weeks later I thought I'd see if I could sail without pain.
I did a test waterstart on the shore and felt discomfort but it wasn't too bad.
Anyway I rigged small. Gybing was RS and I was very tentative as the wrist still isn't 100% but I survived unhurt!
I'm stoked with the 2 sec ( it was 28.53) .28.35 is a lake chop PB for me plus a PB with the WT57 and freeride sail. Its also surprising as I had 80% tailflex on to slow it down and make it comfy..
I'm trying something different with the rig flip on the gybe and I did a brilliant one at the end so I'll concentrate on the wins..Now I just have to be able to do it with the heavy 7.5m & 7m sails.
The wind kicked in a bit last run and the new cautious me decided to not risk it , dropped in . turned the board and got back into shore.
Just me , wingers and yachts racing from Toronto.
Hopefully I can try a bit more tomorrow and gradually build myself up. Cross fingers for no more injuries!
It was good to see everyone later at the club BBq at Marmong. It kicked in to 25-30kts for a while which made things interesting.
I took a few pics of Glen and Tibor sailing that I'll upload when I get around to it.
