Slowboat (49791km):
706 days ago Liptons... its been a few years.
6.3m 53cm superweed 23. Busted a mast on the way out- was spewin until I pulled out the bits and realised I'd put the wrong one in anyway- it was a gift from my mum (it was 24 years old). Thanks mum. Put the right one in and took off for a 40 max heading out from the beach. good start! Was pretty gusty at Liptons, found it hard to stitch a 10sec, or even get wound long enough for high peaks. Stropp rolls in and hits a belter of a gust smashing out a 44 max. B@stard . I tried Pt Gray a bunch of times but didn't get any gusts on the flat. I guess the wind over there was scared of me. Gave up and stayed at Liptons. Probably a mistake- the other guys got most of their best runs over there. I wasn't keen to sail in the really shallow stuff after seeing a ton of stingrays in there.
Just around sunset the wind kicked in again but watching the water saw so many animals having a feed. Something really big jumped out of the water not so far off shore- too big a splash for a stingray or dolphin... more like whale size splash but I dont think it was a whale... (queue the Jaws theme). Great fun to be back on a speed board.
