Lake George, SA.

So much fun!!! Fully powered on the big gear, great bearaways. Launched from Cockies, upwind to the Spit then sending it down towards 5 Mile. Smashed board and sail PB, very happy!! Bit hairy on the way back in the chop.

FF 114, Warp 7.8, Nuclear Weed 24, awesome fin.

a great last day sailing for me that almost ended in tragedy. To the sailor with the red and yellow KA and the Patrick board, LEARN YOUR WATER RULES!!! The downwind sailor ALWAYS has right of way Windward boat keep clear!!!! You are a danger to everyone on the lake and it was not the first time you nearly took me out. Open your fucking eyes!!! Someone is going to get very badly hurt down here if people are not more careful.

Rant over.

Andrew, we are not sailing under the racing rules, we abide by the COLREGS. I suggest that you use common sense with sailors rather than try to enforce something that does not apply in this situation. Using language as you have above is not acceptable. Every sailor has a responsibility to avoid a collision even if you think you are in the right or the wrong.

Great comments Glynn, I would expect nothing less from you. Please note I did not mention this person by name but you feel entitled to be able to abuse and insult me. Well done, I hope you feel really proud of yourself. I ask that people open their eyes for the safety of everyone on the water but you feel that is picking on someone??? Please explain to me how someone bearing down on me at 30+ knots board speed is in the right. Do you not think that sailor has a duty of care to avoid a collision? I was in front downwind. Sorry for not having eyes in the back of my head. And Glynn, if you are going to insult me, at least get my name right and use correct grammar. Enjoy the rest of your trip 💋💋

Not getting into the debate of sailing rules or this specific event discussion but clearly sailing rules should not apply at lg in certain instances!!. Let’s take the classic SE SPEED RUN,. Sailors who think sailing upwind on port and cutting off and standing in the speed strip is ABSOLUTELY stupid, as with 60 sailors coming down the course ,…do you really want “ up wind “ sailors having right of way!? NO WAY. This is madness and soooo frustrating. On other days at lg, when there are 2 speed runs like at the spit,!!! Just really scary, and in a squal even worse. I don’t know the answer to this???? My feelings and observations are that the up wind sailor is 1. In control 2. Going up wind and can see all directions as “ not focus on dying” Should the up wind sailor maybe?, up for discussion be the one to “ change course” as we are all here to sail on the speed run Like I said, this is just general feelings on lg. .
