Unknown Location Bogan (11341km): Porter Lagoon (aka "The Goon" ). Day 2. W 15 to +25kt, then WSW 15 to 25kt. Really really good day. Was more than forecasted. Lasted 20km on the 6.3 before changing down to a 5.5. My top speed was on the 6.3 Racing Blade, 92 Patrick Slalom ][, and 29 Tribal speed weed. I only did 33, but I am betting that any high tier speed sailor could do 40 here today. Would have done more km's, but was resting after each run on the 6.3, and then stuffing around taking videos etc. Some of the gusts were north of 25kt easy. Water condition excellent considering the wind. Gear: var. I'm so stuffed now. Have to go to work tomorrow . Will be Zombie Bogan...
I think I worked out why a plant vehicle drives down The Porter Lagoon Rd every 30 seconds. It can only be one thing, then I googled to see if I was right. I was: reneweconomy.com.au/giant-turbines-at-goyder-south-project-to-begin-epic-journey-inland-from-september/ This might be an issue if you want to sail here next year. I reckon when they transport those big mutha parts, they will close the access road.

NeedSpeedStash (7491km): Boggy Lake, SAF, AU Desperate to sail so came out on a westerly!!! Stayed near the reeds and managed to go through the gap to the other side i.e. speed strip. Choppy as always but at least not like the middle of the lake. Had a massive crash into the boom with my shoulder/arm, lucky, i didn't go through the sail, only stretched the window a bit - first time out on my new 7.0!!! Never keep looking back on a westerly! Lesson learnt!!! Somehow I managed to get numbers that are fairly respectable, I hope, at the end of it. Carl, I'm secretly after your 'Chop King' crown!!! |
