iS111, 6.2 K, 40 CF

a short session to test the foot 6 weeks post fratcure.

The foot was feeling OK but I was very nervous and protective of it and didn't want to push it.

I had forgotten how horribly gusty Melville is.

Not really the best place for a cruisy introductory sail.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Flex got there a little bit late so i  was able to post a faster time then him today which is a change

Average day out at Coodanup! Started absolutely epic, since it was my first time trying out a 4.4 KA Koncept (I think) that Pete so kindly found for me! Thanks Pete! Got some nice speeds and my first time ever on a cambered sail. Still cliché, but it was love at first sight, or should I say, gust?! Best half completed gybes ever. Speed doesn’t show but they felt the best. Could only laydown gybe ‘cause of the power. Last laydown was the best. Fully powered up; parallel with the water, the crisp wind down my slightly matured wetsuit. The effortlessness but the strength of the carve. Euphoria rolled over myself like the clouds that sweep over the Himalayas. Reminiscing on the first time I got planning. Alas, when it came to the infamous sail flip, the harness line caught. The fling was inevitable; controlled yet so powerless. The cold, hard (yet slow) slap of my lifeless body over the sail. Laying face up, I stare at the clouds believing it was a dream, if only the difficulty gybing was just a hoax! I summoned my inner joy/rage, determined to slay the beast of gybing! All hope had been swept from me as I gaze over the bottom panel flapping in the seabreeze. The long hard 100m trudge back to the car for the sail swap. As I rig up the 3.6 the wind came in, was hope still there, or were the gusts just a mirage for the thirst to have a cambered sail. The runs were only just planning, am I an organ donor? Because I was gutted about my Koncept. Frustrated I packed up and went away. 🍄

Good one Anita. I thought about Melville to avoid all the returnign tourists. Then I remembered how horribly gusty it was. :)

Shroom the joy of the art to the gybe and when u get to where u want it isn’t enough u will want more and more u are never quite happy, it never stops that hanger for perfection. The WA boys show that it’s like a drug🥰 enjoy the journey

Thank you so much everyone. So True Salty Nick!!! That is true about gybing, I am still never happy about my half gybes even if they are one of the best ones.I can’t for my cambered sail to get fixed as they are such a dream to ride. Thanks again Pete for finding this for me. Tearing the sail wasn’t much of a thank though…🍄

Well donr the Shroom. With only 40 Kgs wringing wet to hold the gear down in roughish water that was a brilliant performance !
