Slowboat (50890km):
223 days ago Melville... far out brussel sprout that was windy.
Looked pretty choppy when I got there, with some good bullets to high 20s, so decided to try out the 5.8m since I never get to use it.
5.8m Rapid 57 WSP 25.
Then the wind really booted... and with it came the chop! Wild rides through random moguls popping up everywhere... and brutal bullets thrown in. Was getting way too dangerous to send it so came in for a rethink...
Out with the 118 Radix (yep... 30-35kt gusts and I go the 73cm board with a 5.8). Chucked the weedspeed 33 in for stability, and let her rip.
Jim had his drone out when I lined up a gust for a 38 2sec through the moguls... wicked fun. The wind started to swing more westerly and I got one more sick gust (got 39 max) before it backed off and locked in as a WNWer. Wind came back after 30 minutes and saw Scott having fun, so went back out. Fantastic swell lines out the back where you could fully send it. Just a bit underpowered at that point so couldn't get over 37s... but soooo much fun, and orders of magnitude easier than the NWer.
Great day for some recalibration. Good fun sailing with Scott, Kwon and Ben... Thanks for the moral support Jim. You made us all feel cold when you were sitting there in your shorts :)
