Coodanup, WA, AU Great to enjoy real wind with top blokes again. Certainly not sailing fit so stoked to get a 42. Fantastic to share the moment with Tim getting a hugh pb. And Boz getting a 40 on the bigger board. Mark Oz52 evo5.8 wp 24

Lake Ninan,   That was brutal.   Thought I'd do a recon in a SW'er...arrived to sun and a light breeze.  10 mins later wind booted but hard to judge strength as in wind shadow and the nearest dial miles away.   Rigged 5.7 and smallest fin but that was a mistake as once out was way overpowered in chop fest.  Was incredibly choppy compared to a few days ago in a westerly.  The area under the sandbar was beautifully flat for perfect runs but alas it was only 100mm water depth....seemed a lot shallower...maybe the stronger wind had pushed all the water to the other side.   So had to stay in the chop and any attempts at speed were out of control overpowered spinout sessions in fairly shallow water in full pooh stance with rock hard salt bottom.  Once I'd fallen in, the salt started stinging the eyes so decided it was all a bit of a bad idea outside my paygrade.  Should be awesome with more water where could run larger fin or play in the flats.  Spent an hr walking around looking for hazards but temperature had dropped dramatically and got cold.  iSonic86, KAR 5.7 FF 18V4

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Big roll up of Busselton crew today. It was good to see a bunch of young-uns out on the their wave gear. Wave gear was a good choice too because there was no flat water. Tried to do a few bearaways but it was pretty scary stuff. I eventually pushed my luck too far, spun out and then caught my rail. I Went down hard, so was pleased that I didn't break any gear. Copped a sore jaw out of it.  Overall a great day with good company and solid wind .... next time I'll pack my B&J gear

Coods, SW

yeeehar finally some wind.

6.2m, Rapid 57, wsp25.

Got 3 gusts in that session where I started to get powered up. Nice thing was the lulls were still sailable so a lot less standing around than usual, and it was pretty warm! I could still feel my feet.

Best gust was nice. Got comfy powered for a few seconds. Setup felt sweet. Just wanted moooooar wind. Good crew having a ball. Best pond day in ages.

EDIT:

Fastest I've been for 2 years. Pretty stoked to do that on my 97L board. Its a keeper. 7m probably would have been a better size since even in the strongest gust I got, was not fully lit on 6.2m, and it was only a bullet that lasted a couple of seconds tops. Not wearing any weight.

Was the steadiest wind for a pond session that I can remember. Just not nuking- 18-25 with a few gusts to high 20s. Outside the pond was 3-5kts stronger... Gotta remember that next time: "Take 5kts off what you see at the carpark, and hang on for grim death sailing up to the pond".

We didn't get any squalls in the afternoon shift (it rained a few times but the wind didn't increase)- not like the one that greeted us when we turned up in the carpark (just before Tim appeared with a giant grin on his face).

Hung around longer than planned getting forearm cramps, because I was just shy of a 40kt 5x10 and needed "one more". Needed a 39.3 10 sec since my 5th fastest was 39.0. I did about 10 runs in a row in the high 38s... "just one more knot of wind please". My last run was a high 42- yeeehar so job done and sailed through the channel (always fun making it in one go).

Hanging out to hook a proper gust now...

Love being there for the masterclass from Slowy, Woody and Boz, as always. It's about time Ronnie did a road trip.

Jim you have my full admiration for exploring new frontiers. Sooner or later it's going to pay off big time.
