Raymond Terrace, NSW, AU. Monkleys Road Millers forest. The search for a west wind spot continues. Not so good. Not sure why, light gusty wind. Probably not the right angle.
Tidal current chop.
Seems like the 1m high banks stop the wind a bit too.
Difficult launch. A climb / slide down steep embankment onto boulders.

Launching, i put the board out in the water and held the mast before jumping over boulders onto the board and sailing away.
Returning, i crashed into the embankment. Another cracked board, damn it.

Anyway, it had to be done. I was dreaming of it being an epic spot, now i know. It's tricky. Maybe not so epic. It might be good in nuking wind but one might end up wrapped around a horse or cow trying to get in there i think. The horses were looking at me wondering what the heck i was doing.

Teralba, NSW, AU Mistral Devil, 6.5m Sailworks Retro, Axis 799

N-NW 10-15 knots with the odd bigger gust (Up to 25 knots at Nobbys).

Big wind shifts at times 45 degrees and constantly changing wind strength. Challenging but expected.

The flatter water allows better speeds and less wear and tear on the driver. Over powered at times.

Concentrated on flying between the gusts with the smaller foil.

Plenty of good runs with Paul and some wings to chase.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon.

Good use of a roster day.

3rd Winging session - 0 with patchy 10-15kts NW Teralba

My 1st go on my own gear.

 5m Naish Matador- 130lt F one rocket - 1800 front wing c 300 rear??

The 1st 10mins I thought this is so lame!

I was falling in every few secs and scrambling back on.

Started to get it together and I can stand and go on port tack. I even had a go in a gust and I think I foiled for 10ms or so. It wasn't very high and was much less scary than I expected.

I couldn't stand on Starboard so mainly kneeled to get back in. I'm still doing short runs to avoid going out beyond the point. I managed to stand for 50m once coming in.

 Garmin- 2 sec PB - 5kts..Wow ! UndecidedWink

 Distance Pb of 2.58kms

Looking forward to looking back on this when I have some decent winging stats.

Some of the gusts would have been fun on the fin.

Paul and Kevin on windfoil - Steve ,Gert , Kathy and I on wings.

Nice exploration Dave! Here’s a google maps pin for anyone else who wants to check it out. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ARThnXdDVmMYYb1V7?g_st=ic Greg and Byron tried the river near the Hexham bridge but found a similar issue with the high banks blocking the wind

👍👍
It's a shame all the launch spots are hard around there. This one is not too bad. Bit of care and it might be ok. Not sure how it would be in strong wind.
I was filming and said to the camera, 'stuff is gonna get damaged here'. So i knew it, but go i did. I love and appreciate my gear, but this shows how good it looked. Super flat water by the bank. Couldn't not try it.
I'm getting better at fixing boards now so no worries.

Sounds like a fun at Teralba.
