I was looking forward to a nice sunny day with a consistent 15kts SE..nah.. overcast , cold with a patchy 5- 25kts SSE when I arrived.
I rugged up more today and stayed warm.
Rigged the small board for the chop. When I 1st got there it was gusting pretty strongly and I thought I'd be overpowered with the 5.7m but could spill the wind.
The 1st runs I had heaps of wind but the chop was so steep and short I didn't even try to plane until I got more towards Wangi where it evened out a little. Very patchy. I needed the big board but it would have been hell in the chop.
Got a few nice runs across. I went for some nms. Not powered up heaps but still fast enough to be a handful in the messy chop.
Quite steep and messy with wind v tide at the channel. The wind died and I fell in. I lay in the water with the sail in the air and tried to slowly sail back towards Coal until a small puff allowed me to scramble on.
I went in to get the bigger board but it came back in better than before and i had some nice runs.
Whoosed out on my gybes at 1st . Winging and Budgy have made me soft.
I got a few near the end. Fun in the stronger stuff and nice to go for some longer runs for once.
Just me, then Andrew and dinghy.
