Patchy 5- 20kts SSe Coal Point, NSW, AU

5.7m gator - WT57 ( 90ltre) - 28cms Wt weedy

I was looking forward to a nice sunny day with a consistent 15kts SE..nah.. overcast , cold with a patchy 5- 25kts SSE when I arrived.Undecided

I rugged up more today and stayed warm.Smile

Rigged the small board for the chop. When I 1st got there it was gusting pretty strongly and I thought I'd be overpowered with the 5.7m but could spill the wind.

The 1st runs I had heaps of wind but the chop was so steep and short I didn't even try to plane until I got more towards Wangi where it evened out a little. Very patchy. I needed the big board but it would have been hell in the chop.

Got a few nice runs across. I went for some nms. Not powered up heaps but still fast enough to be a handful in the messy chop.

Quite steep and messy with wind v tide at the channel. The wind died and I fell in. I lay in the water with the sail in the air and tried to slowly sail back towards Coal until a small puff allowed me to scramble on.

I went in to get the bigger board but it came back in better than before and i had some nice runs.

Whoosed out on my gybes at 1st . Winging and Budgy have made me soft. Undecided

I got a few near the end. Fun in the stronger stuff and nice to go for some longer runs for once.

Just me,  then Andrew and  dinghy.

Mungo Brush, NSW, AU. Well powered on 6.5 Ezzy Lion, 120ltr f-race, 42cm. Decent south-east wind, not too gusty.
I was trying to bear away for speed but felt it was very hairy in the chop. I thought i was gone over the handle bars once, hanging on by my fingertips, then somehow came back down out of it. Interesting.
I gave up on the bear away idea and started to settle in to picking lines through the waves, that felt pretty nice.

Enough power for gybes, but hard in the bumps. Lucky i didn't pull the back out trying, ugly.

I'd say the worst of the chop was just below knee-high. Some white caps. I'd think some would say that is kind of flat and go much faster in it. Zero idea at this point how people manage that in chop. Practice i guess..

Cabin fever was setting in with this nasty weather, so it was nice to get out for a splash. Bad weather made worse because i thought it was summer allready, having had more than a few good warm sea breeze sessions starting more than a month ago, but now it's reverted to wet winter again.
Anyway, good to get a go again.

Thanks Sue.
It's up there for me. Although it did feel super-mega-almost brown undies fast today, i thought it might have been more than that. Soooo many days i look at the watch wondering if it will change from 2 to 3 for first digit. I really think it must be stuck. Laughing
