Melville

Got there just after 3:30 and rigged for the wind that was there. I figured I could always re-rig if it dropped. Barely made it through the lower channel and was massively underpowered so thought I'd head to Pt Walter- it quite often stays windy there as the rest of the river is shutting down. Nope. Not much wind there either. Hit a rock that I didn't know was there- just clipped the tip of the fin. With negative storm surge on a low tide its not normally an issue. Persisted for a while but the wind was getting more and more gusty and lighter... so headed back. Way more wind at Melville- which was unexpected. Sailed back through the northern channel and hit the bottom... huh? tide was meant to be going in, but it was shallower. oops. Called it quits as the wind faded and got more gusty. Better than nothing but probably should have got out earlier or gone to the coast.

Great to get back out on the green and catch up with the boyz. Few more knots of wind and it wld have been epic. Called it early to preserve the finger. Powerd by the 6.3 SCR,53,Rapid,18 Delta.

Coodanup, WA, AU Great arvo sesh with a great crew out. Plenty of flats thanks to Fangys green front yard. Had the mowers on da trailer ready to trim the surface but Fangy had it in pristine condition so no need. Went with the trusty 88ltr on da 6.3 with da 18cm delta but I hit a brick wall and couldn’t find any extra speed . Tried da 47 Mistral for da first time but think it’ll take a few sessions to suss it out. Went back to da 88 and managed a few extra knts but that was it. However it was so much fun, even in da chop on a 18 cm fin the 61 cm wide FMX felt so solid. Probably a rookie error not to bring the 52 wide FMX as may have been a smidge faster but that’s history now, next time 😜.
