Jeff (13640km): Hillaries wall - 5.0m / 920 foil - tried putting some foot straps on now that have tried the board a bit - was good until a bit of an incident with some stray fishing line that seemed to be attached to the reef very firmly. Got it untangled from the foil and it somwhow got stuck in my boyancy vest zip. Ended up leaving the vest out there (had a bit of a swim to the board by then) - then went in and got a knife so could cut it free. Was actually a bit worrying, if you got it tangled around your body and didnt have a knife would be in all sorts of bother. Was firmly attached to something and the other end felt like it had a large lump of weed or something pulling it tight. Was at least a few hundered metres of it doubled over (probably the marker bouy on the reef I think). Finding the vest was easy as I caught the line again - it went over the sail and board that time which was also worrying. Just shows theres always something new that can happen in the ocean.
Windxtasy (13917km): Coodanup 1s111, 7K 24FF A pleasant cruise in about 15 kn of wind with Basil and Waricle. I was planing most of the time and even completed some gybes on both tacks - timing needs work though. Just what my very unfit self needed.
Topcat (1185km): Carlisle St, Safety Bay. My GW-60 lives - at least for the moment! I let it dry out and no more condensation visible and didn't press any buttons while it was wet. I have a Coros GPS watch as a backup till the Motion comes on stream and as all the posts on Seabreeze indicates, it under-reads by 0.2-0.5kn for most categories. Is otherwise a pretty good watch with lots of features, such as ability to operate Insta360 camera, including using the watches data as an overlay, and monitoring HR during the session (131). As the Coros watches are out there and readily available - whereas nothing else is - and any slight inaccuracies understate your speed, I think GPSTC should consider allowing this GPS device, as not everyone wants to fiddle around making their own or wait till Motion pulls their finger out. Radix98/Moto6.4/WS27 Footnote: When I put the Coros .gpx results file through KA72 (as a private file) it processed it differently to GPS-speedsurfing and speeds were between 0.01 to 0.125 kn higher than for the same run on the GW-60. |
