Bruce Healey (24292km): Canton Beach, NSW, AU Good breeze casl93 5.8 sail, 28 weedy
Andrew Haigh (50238km): Coal Point, NSW, AU. Stingray 140, Free 800 (Borrowed), Naish 5.8 Southerly 14-18 Down to Valo, 4 or 5 wingers and 3 on the fin all dogging around.
sboardcrazy (25098km): 15-20kts fading to 5 -12kts S Valentine, NSW, AU 5.7m Gator - WT57 ( 90ltre) - 28cms WT weedy then 6.5m turbo I missed the best of it as I was waiting for my partner to arive with the video camera. I was after some maxed out sailing on the 90ltre. We'd planned it for after lunch as the forecast said it was going to be like the last big day and peak at 2pm.Huh! I even rigged a 5m for when it came in. Usually I'd keep the same sail and swap boards but I had to change sails to keep on the 90. I started with the 5.7m - 90 . I was powered ok in the gusts but not enough for bearaways so I decided to practise gybes. It's much easier with a small sail less powered up. I'm changing things , trying to fix things each time I go out and I got some much better ones. Not planing, but they felt much more stable, and I got one really nice one in close. Still heaps to work on. Video of you sailing taken from the shore is certainly the best way to analyse things. I decided to change to the 6.5m so I could get some maxed out bearaways but by the time I got out I only got going a few times. I spent about 4hrs there and only got 50 mins sailing.. Still it was nice socialising. I sat it out for a while and watched everybody float around finally putting the WT64 ( 112ltres) on and got a few runs in between floating. A 7.5m on the 125 would have been ok but I'd already rigged a 5m - 5.7m - 6.5m and 2 boards so I gave it a miss. I hope the weekend delivers.. Usual 6 odd wingers , and 3 fins. Luke on his 150ltre Starboard Go ? , Steve on his WT cruise Missile and I. Andrew came down for a yak. The others said they saw a large shark heading to Coal point although I didn't see it. |
