Lake George, SA, AU. JP SLW 165, Ezzy Lion 7.5, 28 ff. At first i thought i'd been done and the mudwalk was not worth it. Then i settled in and became happy to do sightseeing cruise again. It was so still and glassy. Sailed past a bubble floating on a feather, that was cool. I decided it was ok, it was worth the effort getting out.
Then i had a couple of mini squirts on the smooooth, and i became slighlty mind blown again for the third day in a row.
Just Sue and I.

Sail No 16

6 - 9kts S The Spit

7.5m Turbo- Rs4( 111ltres) -24FF

Horrible.

Lake George mud 1

Sue 0

It was hard getting out deep enough in the sucky mud and then the onshore wind made it hard to get to fin depth.

I thought it would be 8 -12kts and I'd get going but it didn't get strong enough.

I always find the 7.5m heavy and at my limit to uphaul. I've shortened the uphaul so I don't get caught up in it when it's windy.

I didn't have enough leverage and almost did my back each time.

It didn't help that the sail was stuck in mud.

I got going and then realised the other side of the boom was encased in mud and I'd need to stop , clean it and re uphaul.grr

I almost got going a few times. Only needed another few knots.

Coming in I stuffed up and ended up too far out and closer to the end of the Spit.

Where I launch the bottom is a bit better with less deep quicksand.

I managed to stagger in through the thigh deep mud with the heavy sail. I  almost had a heart attack.

I saw the board 100m out and it crossed my mind that maybe I could just leave it there for next year.Undecided Laughing

I  managed to get out. If you walk fast you only sink between ankle and knee deep but it's still exhausting.

I came up with a solution patented as Sue's scrawl'.

Lie face down on the nose of the board with the mastfoot between your legs. The nose submarines, fin goes in the air and you can put your hands on the bottom and walk , crawl into where it's firmer.

My back didn't like it but the rest of me did.

I think that's it for me..tourist day tomorrow, then home.

Only Just Sue. I thought the mud had me beat there too for a bit.
Glad you typed out instructions for your entry method here, top class mudcrawling, i might give it a go.
Maybe an anchor point out there and rope, and pull oursleves out next time.
Credit to you and all others that took on the mudpit 2025. No mean feat.
I followed Fitzy's nose ride method coming in and was good.
Not carrying gear i can ninja walk it pretty good now, dont step, slide.
