Sneaky session at lilacs. Got there at high tide but since the forecast wasn't looking super trustworthy decided to make the most of the wind that was there. Rigged big expecting it to drop. Started on the big board and had a ball. Great fun using a normal weedy. Max speed was 39.8 and two of my fastest 10sec for the day were in the chop. Was a good workout on the 7, and was feeling pretty tired so came in for a bit to refuel.
Tide was still up so went back out on the rapid 98/57 speed with a 27 weedspeed. Wind had picked up a bit and so did the speeds. Rest of my runs were on this combo. Fastest run was sending it south on port tack away from the bank through the chop- thats just where the gust was so I went. Wind backed off again so came in for more food and a rest.
Thought I had more time before the tide got low, so swapped the 27 weedspeed for the 20 delta sym and headed back out. According to my gps I was on shore for an hour! oops. Sailing up it was nuking. Strongest wind of the day. The other guys were sending it on the bank. When I got up there I was too late. It was already too shallow for the 20 so I sailed back down to lilacs end, and did runs there. With a lot of north in the wind it was crap down there. I didn't get any good runs at all.
So my best speeds were all in high tide using normal weedspeeds in less wind. Crazy.
Wind backed off again so called it quits. Thunderstorm rolled in and it started pissing down.
Stoked the other guys managed to increase their speeds by a couple of knots up the top in that last window. Nice one. I mistimed it but maybe next time I'll be able to join you.
